Hi guys,
Excuse me I know that my question isn't related to Corona Renderer but please help me if you have any idea.
In brief, how can we make the model you see below? I mean, can we model it just using 3ds max polygonal technique?
There are handsome other examples that are more complex than this model. When I try to go about such a complex model, I cannot achieve a clean topology. When I add turbosmooth, it turns into a mess especially the curved areas. An another simple example is cutting a square hole into a cylinder(its side). I cannot do it in 3ds max. When I add turbosmooth, there are some wrinkles and messes at the edges of the square hole. Adding more resolution to the model and the areas around the square hole doesn't even help. Please guide me.
And again, Excuse me that my question isn't relevant to this forum.

Yes, it's possible to model that in 3ds max with polygons, although there also are other ways to do it.
I suggest to create account on polycount forum and make it your second home ;] http://polycount.com/discussion/157205/how-u-model-dem-shapes-image-ripped

Thank you,
Did you mean using combination of 3ds max and Zbrush?

No, i mean CAD software like Fusion 360. Zbrush would be last app that come to my mind if i'd need to model something like this.

Rhino... and for the added detail/damages zbrush... then retopo do a UV mapping and normal mapping... easiest/fastest way... (Having Rhino or some similar CAD type software that is)

Doing straight out polygon modeling might give great results right off-the-bat, but unless you're skilled modeller it's a bit slow...

CAD software can give you some precise control and very smooth transitions for hardsurfaces even in places where subd fails without a lot of work.

Check this channel. He is a master about polymodeling and explains very well in short tutorials.
You may find everythig you need.He also accepts requests i guess.
