[Max] Daily Builds / Re: Daily builds
« on: 2014-12-07, 15:19:25 »
are you guys still accepting people to test daily builds?
https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,4751.msg32334.html#msg32334

... or you mean is it still possible ? I guess someone would have closed or notify a closure otherwise,
but I cannot be more affirmative.

Well it would be nice if 3dsmax browser could display a preview like it displays jpg and so on...

IES are somehow 'shape-displayed' as soon as loaded in a light object, any previewing occuring beforehand should occur while browsing.. aka made by AD (I stick with 2012, may be 2013,2014,2015.. are doing better)

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Corona render speed

Which is silly, because you can use any render engine to produce unrealistic results. Redshift doesn't produce quite as realistic images as Corona, but on the other hand it is WAY faster, deals with large scenes much better, and has a bunch of other "production features" like volumes and whatnot. If you need really really good interior renders and don't mind the render time, Corona is a great choice. If you need features Corona lacks, or you need really fast render times, and you can live with the slight reduction in realism, Redshift is a great choice. It's basically V-Ray on the GPU.

It's not silly sir, I'm just saying what you're saying too in a raw way. If you can bear this kind of render then yes it worthes its cost.

The good old chairs flying foot etc... of course its more bearable in video prod.

Thanks for all answers  ..........did one test  in maya ........render took 37 sec to render 2.5k res
not bad at all................but it is like going back to vray.........even though quality can be tweaked  in post with some bunch of passes  ......over all its good..........BUT I LOVE corona....its my friend (in my life if i make a friend i will never leave them)

Then you should use cry engine, it's doing 8K in 0.3 to 0,5s :D

can you elaborate in brief please ............Thanks

I don't really like how biased render .. render, and a few examples I saw on redshift gallery were exactly in the direction I dislike. Very artificial mood, chairs seem to float (aka contact shadows somewhat lost) etc...

Is that Red shift 3d  really worth buying ???? {a layman Q}

I you're missing this surrealist touch inaccurate lightning solution provides then yes :D

36
I'm not sure how it works internally but may be corona uses as much ram as possible to store lightning solution, textures, rendered passes,... whatever, and avoid swapping/hd access as much as possible along rendering...

You can see many people rendering vegetations, I did it too over 12Gb ram covering 40.000m² grass (6 variety) with +- 50 trees (6variety), and it worked good.

The question is have you some memory issue impacting your rendering ? If not why by hell should you preserve ram from being used while you paid for it to be full and fast :)
Although if you want to render while doing something else a ram limitation setting would be usefull.

PS : you can eventually check with the corona benchmark interior scene, your interior might be simple, if you subdiv a pillow till 30Mpolys it would still eats ram like a mad shark... may be some object got corrupted in that way ?

I wonder why not much people have been asking for sketchup...

Probably because renderboys goes around internet while architects aren't really interested...
Too me the integration of Maxwell into sketchup is pretty amazing & effective.

Just being curious, why wasn't it an option ? Just related to votes ?

News / Re: New Energy conservation mode

And as a little bonus, with addition of this new energy conservation mode, translucency fraction is now mappable! :)

How hidden is THAT !
Super !!!

~super~ decent !

there's a few divergence in the perspective and the contrast of the two composited images spoiling the final result imho :

The car looks like soon flying to the sky (too wide angle may be compared to backplate ?), and too much contrast on the model compared to the backplate too.

Not sure it's real reasons but I think that doesn't help integration of your model.

I would wait till Corona material has a more powerfull translucency/sss management before releasing a BIG pack, but corona won't die anytime soon imho... and therefore will gather more and more users. Imho.

Nice result already,
may be the seat's wood is a bit shiny while the table is very mat non reflective...
Just think so, not sure it's accurate.

that's already better, don't you want to roll the cam so car is a bit more horizontal (and horizon tilted instead) ?
You don't have to, I'm just curious

pretty nice, although the 'pink' wood is a bit too... bright may be ? Or saturated ? May be just a bit of both...
And then I would add overall reflection. Like this pink wood is not reflecting anything at all, nor the floor... I'm not taking about turning everything into mirror but just slight reflections with small glossiness would give to the whole same more interactions between objects... for now it just 'interact' with the bright windows. But may be that's related to its brightness (or is it my screen totally out of range? might be too )

Why would you use Vray to obtain an AO passe ?

Just add in render element the passe nammed Ctextures, and drop from material editor a Corona AO map with proper/choosen settings, here's your pass for compositing.
