Thanks for ur reply.

1. All our machines use the username render
2. Yes read write access for all machines
3. Yes always use backburner no problems
4. Ill check this tomorrow and update the thread
5. Yes

It is defintely corona. Most likely a ram issue as the errors started happening during  my render tests. I sent a simple  scene forestpro on a plane  at 6k. This renders. Then at 10k... then 16k... it does this  at 16k. Im having unexpexted errors though as well as this which i can post tomorrow . Unfortunately  over the years ive had little success with backburner s strange errors. Usually restarting the license manager or clearing data, restarting pcs or running as admin, updating backburner usually works but since im quite new to corona these errors are foreign to me.

Unless im misunderstanding what u said wrote. I use the physical cam and mod for different  scenarios. By disabling the exposure control in max this enables u to use the one in the corona vfb instead. Its one or the other as far as i understand. Why would you need both?

- Big one for us: A proper realtime link so even when you are using CoronaCameraMod on your camera, you can still control those settings in the VFB. Currently they all get greyed out when you do this. In other words, for the VFB to pick up all the current settings from the CCM and then pipe them back into the CCM as you change them.

If we think of more we'll edit this post.

Not sure how this works in 1.4 but in 1.3 - press 8, turn off exposure control. This should allow you to control in vfb again

Ive had a sequence rendering for 24 hours, and not one single frame has output even though they only have 150pass limit. I keep getting this error on backburner.

I tried resending the job and deleting the elements path as It looked like from the asset tracker it was trying to save the elements there. This didnt work, as a test I tried delete all render elements (not really needed anyway for this pass) and it still wont render. It loads in the vfb, starts, but errors out along the way. Plenty of ram left, its only using 28gb of 64 so I should have enough. Anyone come across this issue?

Cheers

we get this randomly as well. I love the feature auto save exr with render elements, this has saved us a few times, just load it back in vfb and save it back out.

Hi,

Im using Corona 1.3 and having some difficulty with the shadow catcher. I want to do basically a 'render selected' as you would do in vray but im getting some odd results in the alpha.

This is how it looks combined. However I want to separate the people and keep the shadow/reflection as it appears here.

When I render the background it looks fine. I then select the Render Dialogue > Scene > Render Override and render the people with the "Corona Shadow Catcher Material' in the Mtl override: section and the people excluded I get strange shadows on the ceiling (no lights are pointing up) and its very noisey.

Scene

Override Settings

People + Scene

People Alpha

I also tried enabling reflections after this to see if that would help, but it almost seems like a total override - disregarding carpets and other gloss materials with its own. I tried both 'use matte projection mode' and not, still the same result

With Reflections

Anyone come up with a solution for this?

Good to hear your story Dionysios, and sad at the same time. Your work is amazing, do you have more I can view other than behance, I could not see much on there.

I fear your story may be an insight into the future of 3d visualisation - I hope not, is this more due to the economy crash in Italy?

Actually I do not dream about such tutorials, only something to help me understand how to balance lights, etc. I know all these things can be learned by observation, I only guess some easy-to-follow courses would do the same magic over shorter time. I am self taught from the beginning, only lately I feel I have reached my limits..And that´s a bit frustrating

If you want to understand how to balance your lights I have created a tutorial for this, you can ignore the first section regarding Gamma - this was for a particular colour matching setup. Corona uses Gamma 2.2 anyway so its not applicable - the rest of the information regarding the camera, lights and typical setup should apply though.

http://jamesvella.blogspot.com.au/p/tutorial.html

edit; Skip to the lighting section - the rest is for Vray. The environment lighting is basic with Corona so you wont need to do the HDRI setup - just put it in your Environment > Background and it should display your ambient lighting correctly.

As for your camera, unless you are matching a photograph or doing a photo montage - just adjust the exposure until you are happy and then balance with burnout. You will see in my tutorial why this is not so important - in short the photographer usually provides the retoucher multiple exposures and then they are done in post normally anyway.

edit2; Alexyork & Juraj explain this perfectly in this thread actually, https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,11405.0.html

Corona Renderer Alpha 4 benchmark scene
 Living room 100 passes
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4930K CPU @ 3.40GHz
Time: 0:3:30, Rays/s: 6,036,451

Id love to get my hands on a scene like this to understand the lights, cameras and materials. This renderer looks mighty promising!
