... and what is the AE Plugin?
And we are talking about a STILL image effect... not a movie effect.

If it's just a general haze, then best do it in post using the zdepth channel. Much easier and more control.

Hmmm... I use ZDepth, but only for blur effect.
How do I use the ZDepth to get a haze.

The effect I am after is like the movie: Bladerunner... the interior scenes. They are smokey and dimly lit.

Does anyone know how to create a slight smokey feel in an interior?

it looks really good to me you have a unique color scheme and good chaos in your scene adds personality, i think most people will find it a bit too cold or lonely to understand it but i guess that was your goal, and this maybe is why you think your work is ''crap'' but is not :)

Wow. You are the first person to notice this.... and it is what I have been doing for the last 6 months. When you see a Vray image, you know straight away it's Vray colour mapping. Same for Corona.
Vray is super smooth and soft and warm and Corona is cleaner, more neutral and tighter (in my opinion). I wanted to get away from these sterotypes....

But, you hit it right on the nail with using the word: "Personality". It is what I strive for most. But, saying this. I feel I still have alot to learn. Thanks.

I think it's spectacular ! hope you do well

When I uploaded it to the CG comp, I was relieved. Then I had a cup of tea and looked at it again... and thought.... shit.... it's a pile of crap... and felt embarrerssed that I sent it. So, you giving me a nice complement has cheered me up.

I just entered this into the 2016 CG Architect image competition.... with barley hours to spare.
Chances of winning are slim, at best....but, if I get a mention, at least, that's something.

Experimenting with filters to try and get away from the raw render look.

I split my costs in 2 categories.

Modelling cost
rendering cost (image and/or movie)

Just got a new contract for a project in Dubai. They only want 1 image (more industrial design than architecture this time) so that's 1650$ for the image and 1000$ for the modeling.
It's a bummer to model everything for one image only tho :-(

Splitting the cost into two sections is a very good idea.
I will adopt this strategy. It makes sense.

I love the floor material of your interior shot! Any chance you could post it?

Here you go...

Decent work :)

It is so cold and depressing. I think that it would feel like I am the only person in the world if I would to live there.

I kinda like the approach though :)

P.S. Give it some more time when rendering - noise is ugly.
Many thanks. But, all my work looks sort of depressing. I do this with intention. Not quite got it right though.
Thing is, life is not blue skies and Ikea furniture.

Really influenced by movies. Ridley Scott is a master of colour filter. The opening battle in Gladiator with all the cold blues is stunning.
Another Ridley movie, Bladerunner, have interiors that have smokey depth... like there is volume in the air.
Want to create this next.

Yeah, I guess you are right SairesArt. Even though I don't honestly see the logic in these frosted windows when, at least in my opinion, these huge glass openings should provide you with some nice and clear view of your suroundings - where you can just use curtains when you need privacy. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems right to me :)

If you check that interior shot, it kinda looks that windows have clear glass but with some nice rain drops added on top for more realism.

Yes, I did not realize to two hours into the render that the window in question was too noisy... it was Plate Glass. But, I thought nobody would notice :) For me, the rust panels is a disaster... I mixed rust with leather and it did not work. It needs to be more water damaged and stained.

Will have to do it again. Boy, I hate re-doing stuff... it's such a drag.

The wet wood looks very believable, nice job!

Wow. Cannot believe I got a reply :)
Thanks. Need to do it again and re-work the rust.

Inspired by Patrick Bradley's Container house.

Projects are like marriages... they start well, with good intentions.... but (can sometimes) have miserable endings.
Every now and then you have a project that restores your faith in people and you go to sleep with a cute smile on your face.... feeling you
are sooooo lucky to be a freelance designer..... and dream of father Xmas, fairies, butterflies and stuff :)))

What I have found though, if you are honest and show you care.... clients sometimes come back. I have had horrendous fallouts
with people.... only to find they return years later to give you another project.... cos they trust you. Better the devil you know.

Leonardo Da Vinci only did about 7 paintings in his life. He really detested working for people.....he said...."First the clients shower you with
praise, then they show their indignation and finally their utter contempt".
