Hi there,

Is there a parameter for refraction depth? (maximum depth for refraction on a specific material)

I'm having very dark pixels on glass that has a strong bump on it.
I tried displacement but was the same.

I suspect that has to do with the number of rays allowed for refraction.

The glass has green absorption with Distance 1".

Any other ideas?

Is there a way to apply a texture that covers all the instances in a Corona Scatter object (random distribution)?
For example, on a surface with grass objects, applying a texture to the field that contains the grass.

Hi all,

After reading a comment by Juraj on another thread, I decided to remove the overclocking I've done to my ryzen 1800.

My fan had to go too fast and the noise was distracting.

I was wondering if you guys noticed a real world, everyday difference in performance between OC and not.

I do, but I'm not sure if it's auto suggestive.

I understand that the number of polygons affects the calculations that any render engine does.

Is there extra calculations if the polygons are in separate objects in 3ds max?

For example, does a scene with 1 million objects with 10 polygons each equals one object with 10 million polygons for the render engine in 3ds max?

Hi all,

I'm using Corona 1.6 with 3ds max 2016

I noticed that using the slot "Surface Scattering/Random Distribution/Map:" to control the density has major performance issues that don't exist when applying the same map on, for example, the X transform slot in Transformations/Scale.

I'd use the transform slot except that I want to reduce the amount of instances as opposed to reduce them in scale until they're not visible.

Is this a bug or there's something I'm not doing right?

EDIT: This happens when the distribution object has a large amount of polygons.

Hey guys,

Redshift is coming across often for some reason that I cannot figure out.
Even if it’s the fastest render engine, the images I’ve seen are far from realistic looking. They look like made with vray 1.

Does anyone know what’s the buzz around it for?

People were requesting the dome light to be able to switch between multiple HDRIs for lighting situations.

I think it would be cool if, the same way that in Render Setup/Scene Environment you can choose "Use Corona" there could be, right there, the option of adding many of those slots (like with 3DS Max's multi subobject material you can choose how many materials you want). So "Use Corona" would be one of many.

Ideally you could name the slot yourself.

Having that round check box would let you switch from one environment to another without ever having 2 at the same time.

Hi there,

A client asked me to do a truly photo realistic image, really indistinguishable from reality.

Do you guys feel you can deliver?

I really never came across a rendering that I couldn't tell it was real or not, without it being an actual copy of a photo.

If you guys have a link to such work, I'd appreciate it.

Hi all,

I noticed how corona lets you disable undo in Max for, I think, proxies.
Really cool.

Do you know if there's a script to manually disable Undo in 3DS Max before any other operation?
Like a toggle...?

I'm doing some tests with HDRI and shadow catcher.

In the attached image, I feel there should be more color bleeding from the HDRI onto the sphere.
What would be the best workflow to achieve that?

Hi all,

Just a short message.
I bought ryzen 7 1800x with mobo asrock taichi.
If you think you can overclock it at their advertised boost clock speeds of 4mhz, think again.

At 3.8mhz it's still unstable in my case. It could be memory, but I never had problems with intel...
