I have the same problem with layered materials. Copy and paste from one file to another causes broken links in layers, both if I copy only the material and If i copy the object with the material applied on it.

Here I have the same problem... Stopping IR makes C4d 2024 crash. Even with latest build of corona 11.

With cinema 2023 and corona 9, i have no problems..

Here the same... Every time I stop IR on VFB, cinema crashes. Cinema 2024 with Corona 10 sp2.
Same problem on Cinema 2023.

Cinema 2023 with corona 9 works fine.

Thanks to everyone.
Now everything is really clear.
At this point, I'm sorry for opening such a stupid thread.

I agree about lowering the ior to get a lighter reflection.

But I still don't understand how it is possible than in a reflection very near to the object (for example the one with the dishes) I can find "information" that aren't present in the object itself.
It can't be possible that, in almost 10cm, there is a difference in light direction to achieve such a result.

I work in 3d since 2004 and I never had such a strange behaviour...

You are absolutely right. :-D

I tried to simulate a similar situation in reality... glossy ipad reflecting black brushed bin...
I can't find out how the reflection in my render can be so luminous...

But ok,  stop struggling.

Another example.
Here I have a mirror with a brushed metallic frame.
I decided to use a light with low intensity to add a spotlight on the curve of the frame.
The light is visible in reflection and included only the mirror and not the wall covering, so the luminous part of covering is due only to mirror reflection
In my mind, the wall covering should reflect the dark mirror I saw in the image, instead I have that large amount of light that I can't see on the mirror itself.
If I turn off visible in reflection from light, everything seems to be normal.

Material it's a simple surface with glossiness .99 and ior 1.5
In my opinion it can be possible such a behaviour.
Even with a mirror, reflection can't be brighter than reflected object.

Now I'm rendering a still image. As soon as render ends, I'll try to prepare a simple scene to share.
Thanks

Hi,
I can't solve this issue.
Is it normal, in your opinion, that reflections are so strong?
I attached two screens from a kitchen: in the first one, you can see the reflection of the wall burned, while wall it is not; in the second one, reflection of dishes is brighter than dishes himselves, with a strong spotlight that is not present on dishes.
How is it possible that reflections turn out far brighter than the reflected object?
Where is my error?
Thanks
Best regards,
Massimo

Nice result!  I didn't think at clearcoat!
In my material library, fabric silk is made with legacy material, not with physical... should I download it again?
Could you upload it, please?

Hi,
thanks a lot for your reply!
I took a look at your example, and this is, less or more, the result that I had in mind, but I can't use a metal mode because I need to use diffuse map from real sample.
With metal mode, I lose control on material because reflection are too dominant and I will get a different result in every different scene.
Look at examples; this is your material in different scenes and metal mode makes it too different.

Hi,
I need to create a kind of silk that changes color on the edges. Also the color of reflection changes with the angle of view.
I'd like to use physical material and sheen channel, but I have a problem with ior.
Using legacy material, I usually made silk starting from an IOR value in reflection between 5 and 6; not too high to get a metal result, but far from 3, that is the maximum in physical material.
Is there a way to achieve a similar result using physical material?
I tried to find examples/tutorial on the net, but I can't find any silk done using physical material, only using legagy; the one in the library material is made starting from legacy material too.
Thanks.
