Post by: conna2005 on 2022-01-06, 12:02:49
I try to find out, howi can get a reflective Survace with Rougnhess, that i get a Blury Surface.

The Help File says that i must use the Clearcoat Layer. i tried it but i was not getting a good result.

Could you help me out ?

Hi, can you share what you have got so far? Material settings etc? It should be rather straightforward to do.

I have here a simple Scene.

The Ball is a Chrome Shader with full Glossy.

Your sphere is perfectly glossy/reflective as it is. The only issue is, your scene is late day and dark with nothing bright to reflect. Here is a render from your scene, but I duped the sphere and moved it behind so you can clearly see how reflective your material is.

So you want a red sphere, but its color must be blue?

Ha. Totally misread the original post. Just adjust the Glossiness slider to the left until you like it. I don't think you need the Clearcoat setting for a rough reflection.

Also, if you're using Corona 7 or later, you have the material library with many metal materials ready to use. Several of them have rough surfaces.

There is a (pretty pointless in most cases ;)) workaround to keep your sphere as shiny as a mirror and still have the HDRI blurry.

You can use a ray switch material and let it send out a blurry version of your HDRI to anything reflective.

But, if in any case, you want everything blurry in the sphere, really set the blurriness in the material and not in each and every scene material via ray switcher ;)

PS the ray switcher is NOT a pointless shader, this usecase is just a bit ... pointless, unless you really just want the HDRI blurry and the rest sharp.
