Ad 1. This situation may look unnatural because in real life it hardly ever happens that two planes meet at perfectly 90 degrees plus there is no gap between them. So this is more of a modelling problem than renderer's fault.

Ad 2. If this object is not above ground, then the lack of shadow is probably caused by the light source being perpendicular to this object.

Ad 3. You are showing places with objects hovering above ground, which is a different case and it would most likely look the same in Corona.

If there are any lighting inaccuracies, I would guess they are caused by HD cache's errors or some strange scene setup - some users upload pictures that look like with ambient light, I'm not sure what causes this.

Just a quick question because I'm being asked some questions and I know NOTHING about Corona standalone:

How do you create materials for objects rendered in Corona standalone? You must set them up in software (like 3ds max) before exporting, right?

I 've placed a plane and a bitmap ... i do this often to match real outdoor for the living space i make the render... this particular is a photo taken from the balkonie of the house..
How did you do this? What kind of material did you assign to the plane?

Very simple ... i made a corona mtl and putted the jpg...

So this is probably the cause of your problems.
And how did you make it glow? It clearly glows in your renders.

To do this properly you should use CoronaLightMtl with your bitmap and "emit light" disabled.

What annoys me most:
-low res/stretched textures and background
-strange scale of some objects - some elements look huge and other very thin (like the "ladder" and chair in child's room)
-too much reflectivity on some things
-too much uniform (ambient) light

Good work. For my taste, post processing is on the verge of being too heavy but it is eye-pleasing. Any technical stuff you would like to share? Like experimenting with settings or different shaders? :)

I didn't quite understand about the HD cache... i have two one is 120 GB SSD, and one is 750 GB HDD on the same laptop... if that is you mean...
Not HDD but HD cache. You should always have "HD cache" as secondary solver in interior renders.
If it's not the case, then maybe you will find some hints here:

btw, question of the year: what does HD in HD cache stand for? :D

And it is wrong to place portals inside. You should place them outside of the window holes or perfectly capping the window holes.

good

Hope that helps. Also, you shouldn't use very bright materials but I don't think you have any.

btw, are you using HD cache?

1. What are your system specs?
2. Show us some wires, materials.
3. Where and how do you place your portals?

Your renders and the fact that you are hired somewhere make me very enthusiastic about my potential future job.
