oh no please don't apologize! love your trees, love the aviz plugin and really love corona. ( sound a bit like a dull Beatle song, doesn't it? :(  but it is true).

Can't wait to see the result. I started my own materials but they aren't nice enough to publish.
I use the maps that come with the free models from hdtrees.
http://www.3dmentor.ru/category/shop

they used some nice maps, bump, normals, etc. The license include refers to cg textures and as far as I can see the are free to use as long as there is no commercial gain. So perfect for a free repository!

thanks

Thank Juraj an Krzysztof!

@Juraj. Great as always!

@Krzysztof. Love your trees made with the Atree3d script!
I tried your trees and converted the vray material with Corona converter. The result wasn't very great. I somehow did something wrong. The leaves look very plastic.

Did you render the examples with vray or with Corona?

General CG Discussion / brick generator
« on: 2014-06-25, 09:48:16 »
Hi all,

Maybe a lot of you guys use this website already. (Dutch link. I think it's available in other languages too)

http://www.wienerberger.nl/gevel/productzoeksysteem/terca-gevelbakstenen

I bump into it a week ago and used it a lot since.
The site generates brick textures for free. Less quality then a lot of brick generator out there but for me (as an architect) the main advantage is that the are based on real bricks.
The textures are not useful for close up  but for distant buidlings with nice seamless textures it works for me very well.

btw select a brick. Then go to textures. There they have hidden the generator.

nice images!

would you share your curtain materials? especially the translucent one is very nice.

thanks!

Thanks timkirkhope! I did it with Forest Pack. Because this was a test scene I just used a FP grass preset and added a little bit of high grasses of my own (the parc is a bit swampie).
I also modified the Forest Pack standard materials to Corona materials.  I love the the way Corona's translucency works.
I haven't done this with the (Laubwerk) trees in the back. That's why they lack variation and they look plastic.

@rawalance. Of course 32gb is mainstream. I rendered the images on a 32gb machine. But the scene was so fast that I wanted to test it on an older machine.
CPU-wise the scene was still fast (even with some really old dual cores!) but for this scene the memory was the problem. Not Corona.

I think corona is really excellent for exteriors. I'm a render amateur and used Maxwell because of the look and feel of the light. With Maxwell it was really easy to get a nice result. (For me. Nothing like some of the beautiful images on this forum :)).
With Maxwell the rendering times were the main problem. For me the problem with vray is the gazillion possibilities. I think Corona combines the best of both of them!

I attached my very first test with Corona. No post production only some cropping. I used a Revit model so it has very little detail and no interiors yet. (Revit? We are working/testing on a workflow from Revit. That's why.). I added some simple trees and grass.  Again I am a amateur and if you don't like the result it is certainly not because of corona!

@Captain Obvious. I agree. The scene I uploaded used approx. 14gb of memory (with a nice result after 10min.). I tried it on a 8gb machine and it took 25 min only to parse the scene. The original rendered image was 2400x1800 pixels btw.

Nice images. I would try some different temperatures for the different lights. It looks very uniform right now. Like all lamps have the same bulb or that the entire house is lit by one very large bulb:).
Have you tried IES?

Hi All,

Maybe a stupid question but is there a difference between a CoronaLight, for instance a rectangular light, and a plane with the CoronaLightMtl?
I like to use the light material  (I'm a former Maxwell user). But maybe the lights offer more quality, speed, etc. The only thing I can find is the IES option.
I tested 2 interiors and saw no difference between the images and the render times are identical.

Thanks

[Max] General Discussion / Re: CORONA ....simpley the best!!

More than the best. I'm a absolute render amateur and used to use Maxwell because it has a great knowledge-result ratio.
But I get the same result from Corona in 2 minutes that took Maxwell 2 hours!

Corona is definitely the easiest plugin I ever used.
I haven't found one little bit that isn't working perfectly. Maybe the absence of double sided material is one.

Great job Corona guys!!
