Nekrobul, I'm a fan of your work.
And I like the interior but the exteriors lack the beautiful depth which you do so well. And which I like so much.

I don't know I happy or said. I never hated Vray. I was too stupid to use it. For wannabees like me, Corona is perfect.
For the first time we also (or at least we thought) could make renders like Peter, Bertrand and Juraj.

We also could render. And now we are afraid we go back to being noobs again.

The Corona team never lets us down. Vlado creates beautiful software. So what can go wrong?

That they team up and make a better modeling software as Max (and please let us dump Autodesk asap)? Or they start making light baker plugins for Unreal and Unity. Or ...?

Come on guys, give this team chance!!
Congratulations Corona and Vlado. Good luck in the future...

I don't know Vray's latest versions.
So maybe this is not an answer to the question.
But, I would love .....

When I started with Corona it was the answer for easy high-quality rendering for me. Way easier as Vray, faster as Maxwell.
Now Vray a Corona join forces I hope Light baking reflection rendering inside Unity and Unreal will be developed. (like Octane is doing inside Unity, but then the Corona-way.... rock solid)

Unreal lightmass is awesome but it's meant for games, not ultra realistic renderings.[/qoute]

You are right. I meant for archviz purpose. Although selectieve backing would be great for everyone :)

Vray has plans. Unreal thinks their light baking is really great (????). So it will take a while :(

Check this out:

IMHO it is Monday :)

Thanks to you Viz-people guys I can't wait until it is Monday :)

Thanks!

Off-Topic / Re: Vray for Unreal

I talked to some Unreal guys at the EUE, asking them when they get rid of the prehistoric workflow of the baking system of Unreal.
They told me it won't be happening soon. They won't be implementing vray of corona as render engine to baked the lightmaps in Unreal as part as their new Unreal Enterprise.
They are (as Belly mentioned) going to launch a nice exporter that exports a full 3ds max model to Unreal. including (vray and Corona) materials, lights, etc.
The baking process remains prehistoric.

As they are fully focussing on their new Unreal Enterprise, I had the feeling they first want to sell that and then, maybe, change the baker.

I know I'll wait for Unity + Octane (releasing at the Siggraph I think). Of course, Unity or Unreal + Corona would be a dream but I can live with Octane.

Until then I'll keep baking everything with Corona and export it. It works in the mean time.

The viewer can be used again. if you want to you can check it on https://github.com/rambambulli/VR.Viewer.

This is not a real-time G.I solution. It's just a better renderer to bake lightmaps for games, cinematics, vr etc. but it comes with the benefits of progressive renderers, like almost instant fast previews. Right now, in ue4/unity you cannot have a decent preview of what your baked scene will look like with production settings. It will be a game changer within the real-time software world.

Can't wait for this!!
I was triggered by the Otoy-Unity keynote and dreaming of Corona being the lightmapper of unreal  :)

Because I don't think it will happen soon...
I thought I'll try to bake lightmaps from Corona. Just for fun and for training. I had no unreal, unwrap, bake experience what so ever.
I used the good old Corona room and imported it to Unreal. There are some objects that look weird because I made reflection tests that don't work out the way I want them to, yet.

It works great with my Vive (easy 120+ fps on gtx1070).

I learned a lot from this little project and I am also gonna test it on WebGl/Three.js to see how it runs on a web browser.

General CG Discussion / Re: Nozon PresenZ

Hi has anyone tested this program? What does it actually do?

I am looking for software in which I can create (fairly) easy simple walkthroughs for VR. With Corona quality of course! I'll bet I am not the only one.

With simple I mean I don't need opening doors or characters in my walkthrough.
Unreal does the thing of course but with Unreal for me it's still difficult to get a ue4arch quality in my walkthroughs.

Presenz looks promising but they are not making a plugin for Corona in the near future.

Wow, that's an awesome set! Some "behind the scenes" would be definitely appreciated. :)

Yes please. These renders have such a nice theatrical atmosphere!
