Agreed! Learn xgen, it's very powerful.

I get the same when unloading xgentoolkit.mll then reloading - could be a maya issue.

Interesting that there is a difference in light bounces as well in the first set of max45's images (unless that is material difference).

Haggi, I'm still getting dropped frames that render black. It is not reproducible but I htink it is rarer thant what it used to be. It is about 10% of the time now.

Chaos Corona for Maya - Bugs / Opacity with CoronaLight
« on: 2015-04-23, 07:28:45 »
Hagg - does opacity work with CoronaLight? If not it could be a bug that is not yet on GitHub. THanks!

Indeed!

I am seeing one issue that reoccurs though. It seems that sometimes when I do a render or region render, Corona will just render a black screen. If I do it again then it will render. It just seems to drop out sometimes or not catch that it is supposed to a render. Unfortunately there are no error messages but the good thing is that it is not a crash.

By the way - the physical sun + sky balance is really good now but the ability to create sunsets is now lost? In older corona for maya, moving the sun would automatically change the sky to sunset. But now it is stuck on blue and the shadows are too sharp when the sun is near the horizon.

It works really well now Haggi. No issues to report.

Only issue would be that gamma is doubled in 2016 due to color management but I guess you already know and it is on the list down the track. :)

I also found that when it does start rendering, swatches then are paused and don't update automatically.

So if swatch is paused. I render, they update once. I make a change but the swatch will not update until another render is performed.

No haggi - you found the issue.

I have Maya setup so on startup it loads 4 panels - outliner, two persp panels and the Hypershade. This is when the error happens.

If I just load maya with a blank persp, then render - the swatches will then work (btw nice job on integrating the new swatches, they look great).

I can't render with this version.

The Hypershade seems to be all noise, then when I render region or do a full render - this error appears;

# mtCoronaLogger : renderProcedure #
# Executing mayaToCorona... #
# Set logging level to WARNING #
# Error: mtCoronaLogger : Rendering is in progress, cannot proceed. Please stop rendering first. #

Even though it's a fresh scene and instance of maya

Fair enough, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

I appreciate your work on this plugin - love getting that update notice! :)

Hi Haggi,

I get lots of crashes if I do render region then the next one, I do a full render.
Also a lot of black frames and renders not stopping. It's hard to test .35 and .36 because of this. :(

.34 was the most stable release.

Thought I might share this, it is VERY early on script but it works for a lot of things (Phong, VRayMtl, VRayMtl2Sided, VRayLightMtl, Blinn, Lambert). I'm not sure I have the time to maintain this but it might be useful for someone to start.

There ARE bugs. :)

Execute it by using "maya2Corona" (without quotes) command

I remember rendering this back in the day before gi renders were always used. Wow.

This is certainly the most detailed and realistic one i ever saw from that time. ;)
