Yes. This was the problem. Is it checked by default in max 2022? Ive never seen or used that before haha.

IR Appears to be rendering objects that are hidden. The objects disappears if it gets deleted.
Max 2022 and Corona 6 hf2.

I know there are many workarounds but its not always practical especially with walkthrough animations where you want volumetrics and the scale of the space changes throughout.

Hi,

Yeah we can reproduce this one here also, it can happen when accidently adding objects to a distance map which already have the map applied to them via a material.

Unfortunately you get an error popup for each object :( I'll see what we can do

When using the distance map and adding items, if i click something it doesn't like and receive the dependency loop warning, Max locks up completely for ten minutes or more.
I cant click any dialog boxes or windows or click OK in the error popup.

This is with Max 2021 and Corona 5.
Im not sure if its reproduceable in other versions as we are locked due to deadline not fully supporting corona 6.

Ok, i would very strongly suggest not removing the progressive mode from IR as i think the sentiment of a few of the comments above reads this way too.
Progressive rendering in IR to check small areas or overall scene lighting is such a massive part of the speed at which we are required to work and while it might be faster for buckets to resolve the whole image, the majority of the time im using IR, im not looking for a full image im looking at small areas or looking at the way a single light is casting or overall scene light levels etc. Final render it makes perfect sense.

With the utmost respect for the team, it has basically been on every roadmap for every major version in the last 7 years and was something I remember requesting back in the beta 0.7 days alongside many others here.
At the time it was already an older feature in Vray.

Just wondering RE: The buckets is this optional? Progressive is really useful for checking lighting or colours really quickly even when the image is barely resolved and it doesnt seem like buckets help this use case if youre not waiting for a full image?

You need to switch to ortho camera if you want to bake maps from flat plane. Corona camera has very convenient ortho mode where it lets you to set-up render area precisely.

Right, it's actual, absolute distance, from the point the camera is at - so the distance from the camera to one of the corners is longer than the distance from the camera to the point directly below it (in the center of the image). It's not a measure of distance from the plane the camera occupies, but from the point it is at :)

That makes perfect sense i assumed it was calculated a different way :)

Sorry, not sure what I am looking at here - is this the zdepth? What is strange about the vingetting (darkening at edges)? Given that the ZDepth is real 3D distance, the points on the plane at the edge will be further away so would be expected to be darker etc. depending on your min max distances for the ZDepth. So I am not sure what is unexpected here, can you explain more please? Thanks!

Ah that makes sense i assumed zdepth was calculated only by distance along one axis but youre saying its calculated by total ray distance and so the corners of the plane being further than the center will appear darker?

I thought that given im rendering from directly above the plane it would have all been calculated to be the same level as its the same distance on the Z axis?

Im rendering a large flat sheet and using either camera environment ranges or max min values, i get strange vignetting on the zdepth pass.
Is this a known bug?
