We will see what can be done...

Thank you, this bothers me every single day. It would be a huge quality of life improvement! Even a simple label saying what the pixel dimensions were for a saved history image would help.

Going a bit further, how about an option to load the post settings from a saved history image?

Can we figure out a solution so users can A/B any image in the history tab regardless of the pixel dimensions? Or have an easy way to snap the VFB back to the pixel dimensions of a given saved history image?

Hi guys, this forum has been awesome helping me learn Corona and seeing all your work so I thought I would start to share mine.

This is "Streamers". The wall was a pain because the material is almost half metallic and half white cream, so it was a challenge to make it read both ways. The vessels are from Design Connected, I had to tweak the roughness to get the texture to feel right. The wood could use more detail looking at it now.

Thanks man! Yea the wood is super flat, this is still a WIP. I'm realizing more that a lot of the 'realness' in a shot comes from the material. I find myself overlighting a scene to make up for bad textures, when I need to just get a correct texture. This becomes really important with close-up photography. I'm glad that Substance and Quixel are tackling this issue, I just wish I had more time to dedicate to that.

One thing that's really helped me I recently learned with materials is to keep the reflection and gloss values at 1.0 and control the value via maps. That and keeping the IOR between 1.333 and 1.5 for non-metals.

Lately I've been experimenting lighting with just a room's window and bounce cards. Instead of light objects I'll poke holes in the wall and scale them up and down like an aperture to get the right mood. It's been working ok, I've found it's harder to get refractions to pop and it's not as easy to control directionality, but you can always sweeten up an area with a 'real' light.

edit: How do you create your textures?

Awesome man thank you! Yea that's what I meant, a rundown or screenshot. I've been doing a lot product photography shots lately and always find it interesting how other artists achieve their look.

I've found you need to crunch the ao really hard to make it noticeable when using it as a mask. Adjusting the color spread does this but I like use CoronaColorCorrect on the AO to make it super contrasty. Be mindful of the distance setting (I assume you'll want 10mm or so), and play around with "inside, outside, inside+outside". For this I believe you'll want to use the 'inside' setting.

A helpful trick to see exactly what the AO is doing is to put it in the diffuse slot and set the occluded color to bright green. Then when it's dialed it, set the color back to black and white and plug it into the mask slot.

Your best bet for that look is ambient occlusion in the diffuse slot with the proper colors being occluded/unoccluded.
