Title: Scene bounding box is too large... - ERROR
Post by: martinfdc on 2018-04-07, 15:07:05
Hi,

I've got this error messages on a couple of renders. What's happening, how can I solve this issue?

Scene bounding box is too large, some shading artifacts may occur.
Scene bounding box is (minX minY minZ maxX maxY maxZ): -2.02073e+22 -416758 -2.02073e+22 129938 2.02073e+22 18761.9

Seems that your scene scale is too large, try and reduce it to see if the error goes away.

My scene is in the correct scale. It's is a very large scene but I can't scale it down. Right now it's scaled according to real world measurements.

how big? pics, file?

The problem is weird because I have managed to render other camera's from the same file but I'm having a problem with a few of them.

If I lower the resolution then it renders any camera... The resolution I have problems with is this one: 3840 x 2160

With this resolution I have no problems: 1280 x 720

The scene has approximately 600 x 350 meters and the file size is 464 MB

Have a read of this to see if any applies to you.

I changed the system units to meters and that seems to have helped... I had them in centimeters.

They are here: Edit>Preferences>Units>Unit Display: Meters

Until now I'm not getting the error... Seems that was the fix.

Glad to hear! :)

The problem appears again if I have something selected in the viewport....

I'm rendering using the takes system...

The Render Selected option is disabled...

I guess I'll just have to make sure I don't leave anything selected before I hit render.

It actually doesn't matter... the error persists.

Don't know what the problem is. I guess it's a bug.

What version are you using? Also, are you able to share the scene?

Corona 1.7 hot Fix 2. For the moment I can’t share the scene.

then delete everything that you cannot share and if this problem still persists, you can upload it.

This must be a bug, because the minX and maxX are something like 200000000000000000000 meters, which is getting close to the scales of diameters of galaxies... A scene would be great indeed. Or maybe find out what is causing the bounding box to become so large by repeatedly deleting more and more objects from the scene.

Do you have any Railclone in the scene? I had something similar recently. i.e. same corona error message and the viewports were behaving crazy as if an object was miles away from the origin. Worked out it was a simple railclone object causing it (when turned off the problem disappeared) . I couldn't fix it so just deleted and rebuilt the railclone and that fixed it.

Edit - Ha! forget that, was scrolling through unread posts and didn't realise this was a C4D post, so cant be railclone for you.

Yep, I don't have any railclone as it's C4D... I'm also using a Mac...

But it seems the problem only occurs in Macs because I have submitted the file for debugging but the Corona team doesn't get the error I get...

2 Quadrillion KM, you certainly need double precision for that ;)

We have a Mac in the office too, so we'll try it out...

Great to hear that Cestmir! I hope you get the same error! hahaha I'm really desperate and don't know how to fix the problem.

Actually, what I didn't understand from your post - does the rendering crash at all? Because this warning by itself should not mean any issues (apart from some artifacts and the annoying warning message itself)
Title: Re: Scene bounding box is too large... - ERROR
Post by: martinfdc on 2018-04-12, 15:43:29
The renderer doesn’t crash. It simply gives the warning and keeps rendering. The problem is that it’s not some artifacts that appear, most of the rendered image appears black. They are huge artifacts... I mean not able to be photoshopped away... Large parts of the image are missing. Will upload an image in a couple of minutes so you see what I mean.

In that case I totally understand that it bothers you :-)

Hi Martin,

We're super keen to see these artifacts! :)

Glad you'r keen to see the artifacts! jajaja Sorry! Was busy for a moment... Here you can see the artifacts: https://ibb.co/fyyuWc

I will upload more screenshots in a couple of hours... I'm in a meeting now.

Oh yes! the sun is taking a vacation which is becoming too long!

Here another screenshot of take 18 with the artifacts and warning: https://ibb.co/eE2DU7

So these renders are via the takes system? If so, Do you get the same result without using it?

I noticed with the renders I did using the vfb that the sun made an appearance. Perhaps something is overriding the sun in the takes?

Yes, i get the same result when I use the vfb.

I will check once again when I’m back in the office. But I think that theres nothing overriding the sun in the takes, as of to make it invisible. The only thing that’s overrided is the direction of the sun. I do this to control the way the shadows appear in each take.

I checked and there's nothing that overrides the sun...

I am having the same issue when simulating the rain via XPresso. It works in a separate file. But not together in the one which I sent to you guys. Please help.

Guys?
Hi there, sorry for the delay, I'm just seeing this now. You mentioned you were having an XPresso issue but I couldn't find anything in your scene. What exactly am I looking for? Perhaps I've missed something??
