It would be great to be able to denoise VRay generated images in the CIE.  Would it be possible to make CIE compatible with VRimage file format?  Then if the right render elements were present you could denoise (and heck, apply post effects if you wanted...maybe, if light select elements were there, even...LIGHTMIX?!?)

The main thing for me is that the VRay denoiser sometimes loses detail on reflections\refractions and the Corona denoiser does a great job there.

Thanks!
Daniel

Not impossible in the future. Remember that CIE can open regular EXR files too.

Ok thanks Maru!  Would it be able to denoise a properly layered EXR file from VRay as it currently stands?

I don't think so. The image requires some special metadata to be baked in in Corona for CIE denoising to work.

The Corona denoiser requires some additional render elements that V-Ray does not currently generate (color variance and such). One of our developers is working on improving V-Ray's own denoiser and part of that work might require to generate those render elements anyways, so it might actually be possible in the future to open an OpenEXR file in the corona image editor and denoise it.

Best regards,
Vlado

Ok, thanks Maru and Vlado.  Very cool about the improved VRay denoiser in the works!  Cheers!
