Hi,

Thanks for getting back to us.

This issue is currently being looked at and will be fixed in a later version. However, a second workaround for your issue is to disable the multithreading in the Development rollout.

The option can be found here: https://bit.ly/2Tb3LZ1

You will not see crashes after you have disabled this option.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Avi

As you mention that scene crashes when setting Corona as Renderer. A possible cause of the crash can also be related to your Corona license. Please try this solution too if the crash persists: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000015667

You have also not filled the form I asked you to fill and you also have not provided any minidump files for me. So, I can only guess what your problem is. If you fill the form, I can also check your license or activation issues if there are any. However, from the scene you provided, I gave you a workaround for your issue. :)

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Avi

Hi,

I am using Corona 6 HF 2 to investigate your scene. Your scene does crash when I open it directly. Which only suggests to me that there are unwanted garbage dummies, missing plugin data, or anything else which is causing the crash.

A simple fix was to merge your file into a new fresh 3ds Max Scene file. Then your file did not crash anymore but I did see that your objects have two materials assigned in each. Corona MTL + Physical material. As a general good workflow, 1 object should have 1 material unless you are using multi sub-object to define multiple materials on the same object. But that was not the case in your scene. You can see this in the investigation video too I am attaching below. Please go through the video to see the fix.

Video inspection: https://bit.ly/36xUkpR

Also please use the updated Corona version which is Corona 6 hotfix 2. You can download it from the website. There is a high chance of if there was any bug that existed in Corona 5 was already resolved in the updated version.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Avi

I had a look at your file, its probably some dummy, corrupted material from some third party plugin. To fix it. Simply merge your file to a fresh 3dsmax file and uncheck Helpers and other things. Only merge your Geometry, Shape, Lights and camera. This will fix your issue.

Let me know if there is anything else, you need help with.

Avi

Can you send us the minidump file generated at the time of the crash?

Check this article to see how to collect minidump file : https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000524006-how-to-report-issues-3ds-max#:~:text=https%3A%2F%2Fcoronarenderer.freshdesk.com,you%20as%20soon%20as%20possible.

Let me know when you have sent it.

Hi,

You can use Corona Light mtl with "Emit light" off and uncheck visible in reflection and refraction to get rid of Black highlights when using with Corona sun. In case you want your scene to receive reflections from your backplate then you can simply use the Reflection and refraction override from the "Scene tab" in the Corona Renderer setup.

Here is a quick video recording showcasing the solution to your problem : https://bit.ly/3hVY8X9.

I added a mirror object in your scene to better showcase the reflection in your scene.

I hope this helps.

Thanks.

Hi,

I have rechecked this again in different 3dsmax versions including the one with security fixes and I can confirm that in some versions it is working fine as I have shown you in my video but in some outdated versions I am able to recreate the problem.

https://prnt.sc/198kbm8

So, In my opinion, this is not a Corona Issue but more like a 3dsmax version issue but I will log a report for it for further investigation anyway.

I hope this helps.

Avi

Hi,

Thank you for uploading your file. I was able to investigate your scene and I was also able to reproduce the crash on my end.

The workaround for your issue is however if you delete the "Wind Binding(WSM)" in your scene then your scene does not crash anymore.

Here is a screenshot : https://prnt.sc/18zxp1a

Try deleting this & your scene will not crash anymore. However, I do not know the exact cause why this is causing this issue so, I have logged your issue into our system for further investigation.

I hope this helps.

Avi

Hi,

Thanks, Proh, Lupaz & Frood for clearing this up. I understand now much better what you actually want. So, I have logged this as a feature request to the team and looking forward to being implemented soon.

Hi,

It could be the 3dsMax Bug too. I am using 3dsmax 2020. But with Corona 6 HF 1. I am able to recreate your issue but as you can see in my video recording that using Corona 7. That issue is not there anymore.

Avi

Hi,

I understand your points but you can use the "Copy" & "Copy to Max" features. Apart from that, you can also use the "History" feature of VFB to store the current render to Corona history. If you need to update a small part of your render then you can Disable the "Clear VFB between renders" option in Render setup> System > Clear VFB between render and you can either use the "Region Render option" to update the selected part of you can also use "Render Selected" Feature of Corona that is in Render Setup > Scene > Render selected.

Using these options you should be able to do what you have stated before.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

You can simply use Bloom and Glare pass with Bloom set to zero so you get only the glare on the black background.

Here is a example in this video : https://bit.ly/3zMRR8a

I hope this helps.

Avi
