Hi,

I recently bought 2 Solo licences of Corona for 3ds max. It was mentionned that I have 1 render node per licence. Yesterday i used 2 computers (1&2) for working and 2 other computers (3&4) for rendering with Backburner.

Then i couldn't use corona with 3ds Max (1). I opened the licence server and I saw that the computer I used to send files (2) to backburner, was using 3 times the license. So I hadn't any avalaible license for my working computer.

For sum up, I had :
Computer 1 (Workstation) : no license available
Computer 2 (Workstation) : using 3 times an universal license

Computer 3&4: Nothing while they were rendering using backburner

So my question is: can I use 2 computers for working and 2 computers for rendering with backburner, with only 2 solo licenses? If yes, how can I solve my problem?

Thanks for reading

Hi,

For license related questions and queries, it would be best to reach out to us via ticket. You can start a ticket here: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Just to help you, with only 2 Corona Solo licenses, you cannot use 2 computers for working and 2 computers for rendering simultaneously as you described.

In your case, with 2 Solo licenses, you can only use Corona on 2 machines simultaneously, either for working or rendering.

Our license team can explain you this even better if you send a ticket to us.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I already have a ticket (333678) but no answer for now... (sent it on last tuesday).

So if I understand well, I have to take 4 licences in my case?

Hi,

Thanks for sharing the detail. License team will definately get back to you soon. Meanwhile, I can provide you with basic info.

Corona Solo license is a fixed-seat license, meaning it is locked to a single machine. If you're using a Solo license, you can only use it on one machine at a time. If you want to use Corona on multiple machines simultaneously, you would need to have multiple licenses or a Premium license which allows for use on multiple machines but not simultaneously.

https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/9913993820177-What-s-included-in-the-Corona-Premium-plan

If you need to use Corona on more than two machines simultaneously, you might need to consider purchasing additional licenses or upgrading to a Premium license.

After working with the team via ticket, should extra licenses be needed, remember that there are the Render Node licenses which are less expensive than full licenses. They allow a machine to render only (that is, no-one can "sit and use Corona in 3ds Max / C4D" using those licenses). https://www.chaos.com/corona#pricing look for the "Add more render power" link there in case you don't spot it ;)
