Hi Tom,
you said that if we opt to swap to Solo, we will lose access to Phoenix, Scans, and Player, but the faq says that we lose access to cosmos too?
Is it right?
Pierre

I have zero requirement for Phoenix, Player or Scans - surely they should have made these 'opt-in' rather than 'opt-out'

Still very confused, so as a long-term monthly subscriber, the email I just received says:

'This is to let you know that your subscription pricing has changed'

New price: 24.99 EUR
Price for first month: 59.90 EUR

I'm in the same boat as DJ_Buckley and many other Corona users (1-man limited company, Max indie license) and this change could not be any more confusing.

I can't work out whether it's just a change to how many times I will be billed per year and will pay the same as usual over the course of 12 months (24.99 EUR x 12 = 299.88 EUR per year)

OR

Am I now paying 59.90 EUR every month (total for the year 59.90 x 12 = 718.80 EUR).

EDIT - There was no mention in the email of paying my usual monthly price but switching to yearly payments

Seems like you've already found the material you need on vray-materials.de

This can be converted to a corona material instantly using the scene/material converter which comes with Corona, as can any V-ray scene.

Here's a useful video on how to access the converter...

I started the original thread. Not sure I’ve ever been called a spambot before, I can assure you I’m a real boy ;)

Nigan was the spambot and duplicated your post from your thread i think.

Thanks Jp - that makes sense

Wondering if anyone else has experienced a full system lockup like I have several times with the latest daily build?

Plenty of RAM available and scenes are not very detailed but in 3 different scenes I’ve had windows become completely unresponsive after cycling through render elements in the frame buffer. Not using caustics and in 2 of the scenes I wasn’t even rendering at the time of the lockup, it’s like the frame buffer has tried to catch-up with a change and then got a little bit lost, best way I can explain it for now.

I will do some further testing before sending any scene files but curious to know if this has happened to others?

does this coincide with flickering of the 3dsmax interface or VFB? this has been happening for me for months with various builds what you do is press ctrl+Alt+delete and when the screen goes into that log off screen you wait for a few seconds or minutes and then press Esc and 3dsmax should be responsive again.

Ctrl+Alt+Del isn’t available when the system locks up, hard reset of the PC is the only option. The problem might be related but I can’t say I’ve noticed much flickering of the VFB, not to say it isn’t happening, just that it hasn’t become as big of an issue as the PC freezing.

Not sure if it's related,  but I have also suffered a couple of full system freezes. First time, I had to re-start the PC. It was behaving correctly and then bam, everything unresponsive. The second time, only the windows desktop got frozen, but the apps still running. Both times I was using Corona with the first Daily that came with Caustics, but they weren't active.

This is exactly what I have experienced too

It wouldn't be surprising at all. Like that dragging spinner over the screen edge bug that happens only in win10.

This is so annoying, moving any object usually requires 4 or 5 attempts, once goes way too far, then I undo, the 2nd time doesn't go far enough etc. etc.

If only we could move the spinner boxes as we can with most other UI areas

[Max] I need help! / Re: Shadow pass comping
« on: 2019-03-04, 19:33:41 »
Maru, I tried your method in Photoshop but the comp goes completely white. To get it looking right I have to set the opacity of the shadow layer to 1%, then put it in a group and set that group to 7% opacity. Is this a limitation of Photoshop's 32-bit functionality?

Speaking of Photoshop limitations, why doesn't invert work in 32-bit mode? Fraine7, what program are you comping with?

Hi actrask, I'm using Photoshop - invert is only available in 16-bit you are correct. I rarely use render elements in my comping these days, if I were to go back to element comping I would have to use After Effects as I used to do.

I rarely use the shadow pass these days but I believe it should first be inverted. Then you can ‘multiply’ it in your comp

No problem, thanks for the update!

Bringing this thread back to life to see if there have been any developments on the 'below horizon' issue with simulating time of day.

I'm currently working on a day to night transition sequence and the sky becomes orange in the evening but never gets any darker. It doesn't actually change much between the hours of 8pm and 4am.

Using Max's daylight system with Corona Sun and Skylight turned off

Cheers
