Awesome, thank you for sharing.

Yeah I think imagery with quite LDR look more pleasant to my eyes too because they have some contrast. I wouldn't have thought that you're using such low HC values, that's insane. Although values above 2.5 don't change much more anyways.

I really appreciate it and would follow closely any discussions on this matter, also in the FStorm vs. Corona tonemapping thread that just turned up.

Hi Juraj

I don't use references directly like this most of the time, and I didn't here. I want to write an article about 'Finding your look' where I would like to discuss this, it could be educational amids the current time where people ask for exact HDRi in hope they can replicate the same look in different project, it just doesn't work like that and it's very frustrating mindset. I was there.

I'm always in awe when looking at your imagery. I love the naturalistic look you get and would be very interested in such an article.

Another thing that I would love to get some advice out of you: often when I'm creating interior renders the exterior visible through the windows is fairly blown out. This of course depends on the size of the windows and thus the amount of light that is able to brighten up the interior.
I'm always trying to get those highlights back by using a combination of HC and Filmic but I'm never getting as far as I could go in Lightroom for example. Is this just a Corona limitation to keep the look realistic and not drifting too far towards the rightfully mocked "HDR-Look" or is Lightroom using a different algorithm for lifting shadows and/or lowering highlights? Or should I be able to achive this by simply adjusting the curves in the VFB?

Why I'm keeping myself busy with this is because we've got a lot of clients who want so see the exterior while retaining the interior reasonably bright. And when I observe this issue with my own eyes then I have to admit that I clearly see the features of the house next door while sitting inside a room. Obviously the human eye has a crazy dynamic range which is barely matched by DSLRs.

Can you drop your 2 cents on this topic?

I was absolutely digging your Car Viz tutorial! And I'm sure there are a lot of others too.

I, on the other hand, think it looks incredibly realistic and believe that you didn't use UV's, having followed many of your tutorials.

Absolutely stunning work! We're reaching a point here where I'm not sure if there's even anything left to improve.

Haha, I can feel the vibe. ;)

Well in this example you have strong warmwhite interior lights and weak blue exterior light that is travelling in. If that scene would be in daylight with sun entering the room I'm quite sure it would color the room blueish.

Wow, that would be awesome! I never use LightMix during the final rendering because of its RAM penalty. But when using it before that stage, I then have to dial the values back into the lights by hand for being able to disable LightMix for the final rendering. That would be a big time saver.

Yes that's exactly how I am working with it.

So in VFB+ full Filmic is provided? Or is it a differently implemented as well? Because to me it feels like the Corona Filmic and the VFB+ Filmic act similarly.

Since playing with the 1.5 DB I often use both HC and Filmic at the same time. I sometimes feel like Filmic doesn't compress the highlights as efficiently as HC but using both together I feel like I get the good stuff of both worlds.

Maybe this is from a technical side fubar, I wouldn't know ;)

There you go.

I'm leaving for South France now. More to come later, enjoy your weekend.

Yes, design-wise it's quite a bold concept. I personally like the Cruella de Vil styled proportions and the fact that it's electric.

Cruella de Ville proportions, that's exactly it! Personally I like it, but I have a thing for bonnets (hoods) that go on forever in front of the driver lol.

I suffer from the same taste :) That's why I always liked the Nova from X3 Reunion so much.

Have observed from past decade or two... Merc has lost it's line design identity (with a couple of exceptions) came to be rip off of different motives at best (mostly BMW, Porsche, Jag, Aston, FIAT, Nissan...).

Hmm, I feel different about that. Not that I'd have observed it for the last 20 years but I think that Mercs have a uniquely streamlined shape which stands out from others.
(Not that I liked it better just because of that..)

I see what you did there Maru.. :)

Maybe you like the design more from this perspective.

We settled with modelling the folds after TS-ing which turned out to be much more comfy.

Thanks for all the creative contributions to this thread, I had a blast :)

I've seen other angles and even the interior , its actually spectacular..

is it an electromobile? If not, this would be probably the first petrol/diesel powered dildo in the world :D

Haha, unfortunately (in this context) it's fully electric. I gather that comparing a car's design to a dildo isn't much of a compliment xD

To all the experienced car modellers out there: How do you normally create the folds between the different panels in an easy way and avoiding dents and uneven transitions between them?

If you model the seams and then add a TS on top it distorts the whole topology and improving that is nasty. We're now in the process of making all the body perfect and then baking the TS and at the end adding the seams in another Edit Poly on top of the high poly car. This is a destructive workflow but I can't help myself...

Work in Progress/Tests / Mercedes Maybach 6 Concept

Hi there

Where working on a 3d model of the new Mercedes Maybach 6 Concept car. It is completely based on reference photos since there are no blueprints out there in the www.

On a personal note I'd be interested to hear what you think of the design of this car. From what I've seen so far it seems to polarize people's opinions quite a lot.
