[C4D] I need help! / Re: Bump texture rendering too smooth

Regarding the original post, are you by chance using the global scale value in the noise shader? If so, put it back to 100 and use the three local field beneath it instead. See if that fixes it.

Great suggestion. I’ll have to try that. Thank you!

[C4D] I need help! / Light node equivalent?
« on: 2022-03-24, 04:52:36 »
Does Corona have a function equivalent to C4D's Light Node? I want to be able to change a shader based on how the surface is being illuminated by a specific light.

The effects I'm trying to recreate is the luminous effect of a UV light illuminating a UV reactive surface. Imagine a sphere that's diffuse white under all lights, but one designated light reveals the self-illumination channel only where that specific light hits the surface.

Thanks,

-Seb

Yes, in some scenes the benefit of distributed rendering is really small, or worse the render takes longer than it does on one machine. For the most part I've learned to optimize for my particular network setup to avoid these issues, but they do occasionally creep up.

But the primary reason to do this is that sometimes getting four 6-hour images at once is better than running them one at a timed having each take 2 hours. A frequent scenario I run into is a queue of let's say 30 images that I run overnight. I check the server after being away from it for 12+ hours to find that all of my slaves except one or two hung, destroying any DR gains and keeping other images from being done.

Long story short, I don't think it should be all or nothing. I've often been saved by V-Ray's checkbox that allows me to disable DR.

Hi all,

Is there a way to turn off distributed rendering when using Team Render? Sometimes I want to spread multiple large stills individually across machines rather than have multiple machines contribute to one image. Haven't been able to figure it out.

Thanks,

I'm running Team Render Server on a Windows box and queue files up using the web interface. When I queue up multiple single-frame jobs with Corona render time limits, the render seems to think it started at the time it was queued while another file is rendering. This results in the files being marked as "completed" after the time runs out, even though they never started. Output files are saved, they contain all the correct render passes and are the correct resolution, but all layers are black.

Team Render Server: C4D R23.110
OS: Windows Server 2016 64-bit 17763

Got it. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks. Does that adjust bump and displacement height accordingly? Sorry if this seems rudimentary, I'm getting back into C4D after a long hiatus due entirely to how much I like Corona and there are many things I need to catch up on. I appreciate your time.

Thanks for putting this together! I'm unable to find the scale controls, though. Am I missing something or has that function been removed?

Thanks,

-Sebastian
