I had the same problem last week. From memory I logged in over here, using my corona credentials, and downloaded the license server.

I realised what the issue was when stripping down the scene to send to you - I had the geometry with the tiles duplicated. If the scene might still be of use I'm happy to send it but this one might need to go down as operator failure on my part.


I'm getting a different result between the IR and final render.

Material is applied using cubic projection and via a selection tag.

it's quite a simple scene with lights made from light material applied to planes. The problem should be very noticeable in the bottom right hand side of the model.

I'm getting a lot of artefacts in the final render vs the interactive.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the nice example Michael. I found the render times increased substantially as the complexity of the layer mask noise shader increased. But I noticed if you bake the texture out you get all the benefits of your method with none of the render time penalties - at least none that I've found so far with my limited testing.

Doing a quick bit of maths on the AMD promo material it sounds like we might be able to expect up to 16,700 in cinebench R20 from the 3970x and 13,500 on the 3960X. I could be getting this completely wrong if they're referring to single core scores but I'm guessing it's multicore. I'm basing this of a score of 8791 for the i9 9980XE. I know the reviews might reveal a different story to the promo material but hopefully I'm in the right ballpark.

I'm going off the percentages on this slide:

Plodding away over here on a 1950x (6670 in cinebench R20) so those numbers above look good.

Only thing I'm a bit unsure on is the discussions I've seen around Corona not fully utilising all that the 2990WX has to offer. Has there been any dev feedback on this?

this is listed as fixed in the latest build from 15/10

1. Create a material with reflection and refraction enabled.
2. Create ray switcher material
3. Add material from 1 to reflection and refraction channels in ray switcher material.
4. Adding material from 1 to directly visible channel also makes incorrect results.

I had the 3 fan Enermax fail on my 1950x and replaced it with the Noctua and it's been good. I'm not overclocking but it's much quieter than the Enermax and keeps temps to around 60 when rendering, depending on the ambient temp.

Yes, I deleted the corona folder out of the R20 plugins folder then unpacked from the installer and copied the new corona folder over to the R20 plugins folder.

When I install it, it tells me in the progress that the current version is already installed and it is being ignored.
