General CG Discussion / Hard surface modeling
« on: 2018-09-27, 08:24:54 »
Hi,
The following is a polygonal camera which has not been smoothed using turbosmooth.
How the final render can be smooth while there is no smooth modifier in the main model?
What is the keyword for this type of modeling? I want to search some information on Google.

Hi,
I want to create a high quality car model like what you see in the image below.
Can SOLIDWORKS model the same quality or do I need to use Maya (polygonal method?
My problem with polygonal method is its low quality and artifacts in some curved areas when I add smoothing.
Please guide me.

Hi,
I'm going to render som SOLIDWORKS models using Corona and 3ds max. For lighting, I use Light Map Studio. What is the best way to render them while keeping the RAM usage at the minimum? Converting the model into OBJ or importing as STEP file without any change?
Many times converting the SOLIDWORKS model into OBJ increases the file size for example 480Mb and this decreases the rendering speed.
My RAM is 16GB and CPU Corei 7 4790k

[Max] General Discussion / DoF setting!
« on: 2018-05-11, 16:13:26 »
Hi friends,
In Corona for 3ds max, how is it possible to focus the camera on a specific part of an object?
In heavy DoF, it is very critical to find a proper focus distance but I cannot set it correctly.
In KeyShot you can click on the desired area of your object to set a correct focus distance. How is it possible in Corona for 3ds max?

General CG Discussion / CAD or Polygonal technique?
« on: 2018-02-10, 20:03:20 »
Hi friends,
If the goal was to render a high quality car model, which one would be a better choice? CAD modeling or Polygonal modeling?
Note that the goal is just rendering a photorealistic car model and not manufacturing?
Please explain why you'd choose that option?

Hi guys,
If someone intended to model a complex object which one would be better choice in the terms of quality, accuracy and ease of use?
1) SubD softwares like 3DS MAX
2) SolidWorks along with PowerSurface plug-in installed.
3) Rhino along with T-Spline plug-in installed.
Note that the objective is just single frame rendering, not animation. The final model will be rendered in an another software. The issue is just modeling.
Consider the following model as the objective:

[Max] I need help! / Two important questions
« on: 2018-01-12, 16:45:37 »
Hi guys,
1) I rendered the following statue using Corona 1.7 and as you see there is an arc of white dots for no reason. I used HDRI and IES light. Why are these white dots appeared in the final image?
2) How can I ease the process of adjusting focus on the subject? Generally, I use many try-outs to find a proper distance parameter but it is not quite fine.
