Work in Progress/Tests / Interior - personal study
« on: 2015-04-09, 14:00:26 »
Here is a quick render of my personal interior study, heavy work in progress, barely made a silhouette of the final looks.
Working with product shots mostly so I am not really good at this.

Anything that needs to be fixed, please go ahead and say it, I would really appreciate it :) Thank you!
Curtains are a placeholder, I have to make a high resolution mesh in Marvelous Designer when I get back to work.

It was taken straight from Corona 1.0 frame buffer, no post.

General CG Discussion / UV troubles..
« on: 2015-03-26, 21:22:22 »
Anyway, so I am modeling some bumper cases for mobile phones and the customer wants them mapped so he can use some images / text on them for print.

If I use normal planar mapping on the back then the image is stretched on the edges. If I go ahead and utilize full unwrapping I end up with some twisted UV mesh that gives me bad results if the text is showing on the image :(

I mean, whatever way I try to "relax" / "unfold" the UV cage I always end up with some skewed results and I cannot use planar mapping because I need the image to go over edges as well.

Anyone got some experience with that? I am losing my mind :(

You can see on the screenshots that if I use some image texture it is not really noticeable but it starts to get dirty when the texture has some straight lines or text.

I have tried to UVW unwrap in both Cinema4D at work (screenshots) and at home in my 3dstudio 2015. Getting exactly the same results after relax.

Thank you in advance!

General CG Discussion / Sub-D modeling - Correct workflow
« on: 2015-03-13, 15:27:42 »
Okay, one question for all you pro sub-d modellers out there :)

What would be the quickest and the most correct way of optimizing this cut into quads so it does subdivide nicely afterwards?

I would personally add edge loops around the cut and connect it that way.. but I was wondering if someone has some tricks or ideas how to make it into all-quads without looping the complete geometry further and still get absolutely clean smoothing afterwards.

Here is the image so you can draw over it if you wish :)

My new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge model prepared for After Effects and Element3D. Felt like giving it a go with Corona as well :)

[Max] I need help! / Corona Wire Tex - only outlines?
« on: 2014-10-27, 13:57:22 »
Is it possible to highlight only outlines using this texture, something like V-Ray Toon? I am looking at it but I can't seem to find it. Whatever I try I always end up highlighting complete wireframe (which I guess is what this texture is all about in the end, but I still wondered if there could be some trick to it).

Or is there some other way to do it?

One fun, quick render before sleep :) - Made it to relax from tedious arch-viz..

CG-Source HDR + Small corona light from the back for some extra mood. Everything is in Max/Corona, no post.

Is there anything else, apart from making the scattered patch of grass smaller, that I can do to prevent the scattered objects to run over edges?

I know that it was asked before, just wondering if something new happened over the matter through daily/final release builds.

EDIT: Just to clarify - this was a quick setup for the test, grass model and material were made in 5min.. just wondering about the functionality. It is actually a preparation for my new project, aerial shot of 3 villas in the middle of nowhere, lots of vegetation included /wrist)

[C4D] General Discussion / Legacy build for C4D?
« on: 2014-10-23, 14:05:19 »
I remember reading the blog where Adam said something about including Corona legacy build in Corona for C4D 1.1. Did that happen or Corona for C4D doesn't have support for older (legacy) processors yet? I am just wondering since I got some old computers (65nm processors) here that I would want to try Corona on (Xeons X5355 precisely).

Thank you!

[Max] I need help! / Diamond render/material in Corona?
« on: 2014-10-15, 14:38:59 »
Okay, so I have asked a few times in here in some random tech threads about some real dispersion support in Corona but I never got any replies. Is there anyone who tried to render some jewelry through Corona? I am talking about this kind of quality (check attachment).

It would be a blast if I could do that with Corona, because I would then be able to completely ditch V-Ray for it in my personal work :/

Cheers!

Hey guys, I have just bought a subscription to Unreal Engine 4 to check it out. Is anyone here using it for Arch-Viz? What are your thoughts about it? Feel free to shoot here :)

EDIT: Added youtube video previews of the technology

I would want to know how you guys approach these kind of renderings - perspective render of a floor plan with clipped wall section to better expose the interior. Example in attachment.

What is the easiest and quickest way to do it in Corona/Max or Corona/C4D.

I thought about knife tool-ing the complete object in cinema4d or maybe boolean everything with a box. I know also that v-ray has a camera plane clipper and so does corona... but I am not sure what would work the best.
Thank you :)

Could anyone elaborate on which plugin to use with Corona to get the best (meaning quick render speed, good looking) results?

I was thinking about buying Forest Pro 4.2 after trying out the Lite version. It seems decent!

Anyone got any other suggestions? I haven't really tried other plugins for now.

Thank you!

I think there will be a lot of users randomly asking about how to do this and how to do that. Let's keep it clean in one topic.

I'll start :) - Is there a way to show diffuse map texture inside viewport while using Corona Material (like a button in Max "show map in viewport)? It would be really helpful for UVW mapping.

EDIT: Solved. It was a temporary bug with my scene obviously. Working normally now.

Gallery / iPhone 5S Silver - Corona for C4D
« on: 2014-09-04, 22:33:30 »
Grabbed the C4D release of Corona and remade my, a bit older, model of an iPhone 5S Silver :)

Corona for C4D is already blazing fast, cool and nice to use! Still missing some "quality of life" stuff that Max version has - but I already, simply, love it!!

Here is the render (only 8min for this, so adorable)!

Hope you like it :)

P.S. Lightning is HDR only. No Corona Sky/Sun was involved.
