Guys hello,

Does anyone has an idea how to create a wireless waves that could look like on images below? Would greatly appreciate any tips.

A disc object with multiple gradients would also work.

No guys, it should have a volume, like a fog rings or something.

Then a torus with a volumetric material should do the trick.

a standard c_material > diffuse with fresnel texture in refraction, ior1 > used on torus particle



to add foggy effect use Volumetrics channel (didn't like it)



PS
Volumes can't be layered. Bug or Fact?

Volumes can be layered, but the result is often very close to one of the materials if the values for scattering & color are not extreme enough.
I just did it yesterday when I was trying to make a layered Skin shader like material using the volumetrics.

Sorry, for i have expressed poorly - Volume can't be a Base material in Layered to build upon. ;)

Since I love challenges , couldn't let this one pass without giving it a try.

My approach was a bit different from the ones mentioned before.

I did it using alpha channels and depth of field(to give it that foggy effect).
