Excellent scans, as always! Have you tried the new Reality Scan app from Reality Capture?

Thanks ingemar! I don't have an iPhone, as the initial beta phase is only for iPhone users. But it looks promising, though I expect less detail in respect to conventional turntable and a DSLR/mirrorless approach. Have you signed up for beta and tested it?

I took it for a literal spin yesterday. The results are… promising. The UI is pretty clever but my test model lacked textures. I tested Trnio right after and the model looked better - but it might just have been the texturing that fooled me.

Anyway, it’s early days for RealityScan. I hope it will at least put some pressure on the competitors to improve the scan quality. Until then, I guess I will just have to blow the dust off my turntable : )

Thanks for your insight, ingemar! I tested Qlone some time ago - it's fine for quick shape capture, with texture it looks fine, but the mesh is just featureless approximation. And needs a printed A4 paper with targets for the app to catch it.
Here is another +10 from me.  Hotdog from Pressbyrån.

I agree, smartphone scanning is not quite ready for production work.

The hotdog looks great! It looks just as plasticky as in the real world. By the way, have you considered doing half-eaten and/or spoiled fruit? A half-eaten apple would add a bit of life to many interior renders.

Thanks ingemar! I might look into rotten, half-eaten stuff later on. 1st I want to build a pretty decent library of at least one scan of each most common type of fruits and vegetables and some man-made food like bread and bakery. That is one long way to go...a few years could be enough hopefully :D
Had a break from scanning, but back at it again. Here is another 10. The peanuts have 32K diffuse resolution. And the grill season if officially opened, a Chorizo sausage to celebrate that:

And another 9 scans. This batch is focusing heavily on mangoes. One big advantage of being a photogrammetry artist is that you get to taste all kinds of fruits and vegetables. Knowing a thing or 2 about mangoes now I can highly recommend Sweet Sugar Mangoes from Colombia. If you ever manage to see them in your store, get them - the best mangoes ever. As always check the nuts scans renders in full res.

In this latest batch of photogrammetry scans, I present to you 7 of my best ever tomato 3D models. And for my Swedish friends out there, a typical pastry - punsch-roll dammsugare.
