As I have stated. I'd want to have a seamless transition not just on a specular material, but also on a diffuse one. You lose the smooth transition as soon as you break the phong shading. See the images below.

No, I don't believe so. When I check this box and observe the shade on the rounding's border, it just destroys the smoothness between the rounding edge and the rest of the geometry. But isn't this not natural behavior in the real world? I'm looking for a seamless transition/shading between two perpendicular surfaces. The problem could be solved if the bevel mod made extra cuts at the rounded edge.

Hello,
now that I know what's causing the distortion, I'll use the Phong Break Rounding option. I was simply surprised that you needed to use it. It's a shame that BEVEL MODIFICATOR doesn't provide an option to remedy the shading problem without breaking the phong rounding. The bevel modif, for example, could add next sections next to the rounded edges. When I utilize the Phong Break Rounding option, I lose the right smooth behavior on a diffuse material.

Thank you for your reply. I will check it.

OK. I will check the shading rules to avoid it next time. Do you have any link where I could find more info?

Of course, I can take this modificator off the glass panel. I just wanted to mention that there is a glitch that may affect not only specular materials but also other geometry if the bevel modificator is used.
Because I was unaware of the problem, I placed the bevel mod beneath a null object where other elements of the window frame were. Then I struggled for a while to figure out the problem.

Yes, I have the subdivisions enabled.

Hi,

I recently ran into an issue with the BEVEL MODIFICATOR. It creates HDRI background deformation as soon as it is applied to a plate of glass in a window. When I enable the break phong shading features, it helps somewhat. However, that should not have happened in the first place.

I've noticed a similar issue. I merely used cloner, transformed it to an editable object, and then made UV. The same/similar issue occurred. Take a look at the pictures. The first is with basic C4D material. This is somewhat bothersome because I need to submit the proposal very soon.

I HAVE noticed a bit later, that it was caused by the normal map with LINEAR gama. When I uase a normal map with gama 2.2 the problem was gone. ARE WE SUPPOSED TO USE GAMA 1 FOR A NORMAL MAP?

When I click on the link UPLOAD and try that I get message "The person you are attempting to send files to is not eligible for this feature."

Hi,

I have made a test with C4D material and it works well. The problem is probably related to the Corona material. I will test the randomizer as well. Anyway it would be good to solve the problem with Corona material.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Cloner/Formula effector change shading
« on: 2023-07-31, 17:41:46 »
Hi guys,

Applying the effector formule to a cloner causes me problems. Each clone was to be rotated 180 degrees. With every subsequent clone, Corona changes color/shading. Any ideas as to why this is occurring?

Kind regards

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: Corona freezes when stop rendering
« on: 2023-07-19, 17:22:56 »
Hello,
I came to the office today to test it again before sending you the file. It astonished me that it didn't happen today. I didn't make any changes, and the problem went away. The same thing happened when I had the IES light problem. As soon as the problem arises again, I will write you all the specifications and email you the file. For the time being, it appears that the strange bug was most likely on my PC.
Best wishes

Hello,
this is a bit of weird behavior. I have tested that today and it works fine. But when I tested that the other day really froze every time.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Corona freezes when stop rendering
« on: 2023-07-18, 15:10:31 »
Hello, Cinema freezes as soon as I hit stop rendering. The issue with the IES lights (Corona won't accept IES profiles from the Cinema asset browser) has been resolved. The result is freezing.) A little while later, I have to deal with another freezing. When I can't rely on this renderer, it is quite unpleasant. I can't spend days trying to figure out which assets I can use, whether I can use this function or not, etc.

Okay, after spending some time trying to identify the issue, I've discovered that the carpet material from Corona Library is to blame for the freezing.

some time later:

SOOOO NOOOOOOOO......I thought I have solved the problem but apparently not. It freezes again. But it happens only when using interactive rendering.
