... for a more complex archviz scene (not IR) it means a difference of 500-600 Rays/sample in 9.1 compared to around 2000 Rays/sample in 10.0
which of course results in a rise in rendertime by at least 400%.

I also found the CPU having some sudden breaks in render power. this also happens with 9.1 thou.

Furthermore I saw that a certain material with some displacement caused 10.0 to even have much higher Rays/sample. I will try to find that material again and send a test scene.

My colleague runs the same system. just not watercooled but with a noctua fan, and he's having the same issues. If that might help to find the mistake.

still the same.

I figured out that it got a bit better when using a Sky object with a 16k .hdr as a light source.
Rays/sample went down to around 200. which is still far away from your 24 :)

Also tried 9 hotfix 1 again. Here its much better still. But I observed that IR starts with around 20 Rays/sample and after Pass 10 it goes up to around 90, where it will stay then.

still the same :(

ok thanks for the reply.
will try that and post update.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Corona 10 very low render performance
« on: 2023-07-13, 09:55:43 »
Hi,

just upgraded to 10. So far everything was fine. Just IR seemed to be rendering quite slow.

Then trying to render final in 4K. After 5h only 3 passes!!! 17K Rays/sample average!!!
Not very compex scene.

To track the reasons I tried a very simple test scene. Two cubes and Corona Sky/Sun.
500 Rays/sample in IR
Then downgraded to Corona 9. Same scene 100 Rays/sample only.

So something is wrong here I think and I will probably continue with CR9.

Any Ideas?

Thanks J

ah ok, never used that before. will try it out!
please try to keep coronas usability as clean and smooth as it used to be.
thanks;)

ok thanks.

and what does this mean? now nothing gets saved into the camera tag :(

Document was closed, values won't be synchronized.

Corona v9

Hey there,

we use a stage tag alot to render a set of single still cameras. also in IR we go through the several cams by changing the frame in the timeline.
In older Corona Versions the camera tag  (tonemapping) could be changed and the changes were visible in th IR immediately. Now it need a restart the IR every time. super annoying when having to adjust 10 cameras consecutevly :(
unfortunately in the framebuffer the tonemapping is always connected to the camera that it was started with. this has always been this way. but now the workaround through the tag is not working aswell.
why is the tonemapping tool getting so complicated anyway? can annyone tell me why its better to have different tonemaps saved instead of just duplicating the camera an changing the tag?

thanks!

[C4D] I need help! / Re: Python remove render region in VFB
« on: 2022-10-03, 22:18:35 »
Sorry can't help you with thisone. But this tool would be super helpful. How many times I found my final render in the morning ruined by regions. Super annoying!
Would be cool if you let me know when you get this to work. THX!

@j.nosh — That's one of the great things about the Corona Renderer. It is fully compatible with most if not all of Cinema's built-in tools. Never forget to mix C4D's great tools and filters with Corona. That's the magic.

Absolutely!! I'm in love with C4D since 2004. Together with Corona there are endless possibilities. Sometimes you forget about the native cinema tools :)

11
Yes this is highly necessary! We do professional archviz. We exclusively select by materialtype in postpro! Please add this feature in CR9. THX!!

12
Absolutely! please add material support to cryptomatte! THX

Yeeeessss Magnets Yooooo!! :)

Thanks FS. Exactly what I wanted!!!

These Cinema onboard tools cant be underestimated.

Hope that mixing cinema shaders with corona materials won't be to buggy.

Hey, thanks for your example. But I know how the UVW randomizer works. :)

But I still need to randomize the gamma/color/etc  for each tile of a texture.
