Post by: Philw on 2022-04-13, 13:46:56
I see that v8 is now officially released.... is this version the same as RC5 or different? Cheers!

It's not officially released yet, still some backbone stuff being worked on - once release is official there will be forum posts, facebook posts, blog post etc. :) Patience is required here as there are many moving parts this time around with the switch in licensing, website, and more.

Also because many things are not yet working, will have broken links etc. we ask you do not publicize anything until our official announcements once everything is working properly - thanks!

https://corona-renderer.com/

Is why I asked as I downloaded it from there.

I know - but it's not officially released yet, as mentioned a lot of other parts (purchase system, licensing system, etc.) still to go. Website is like that just for testing (and some bits broken for now). Official release will be very official - forum post, social media post, email to all users, and until that happens it is not officially out, simply in process. Again, we ask not to promote this as things will be broken for a while yet due to the massive changes happening all at once - thanks.

Thanks! Believe me, you will know once the official release has happened :) We are working to make that as quick as possible, once we are sure everything works and users won't run into some frustration or other .

Well Tom, I have news for you. I knew about this because of the post on Instagram and the Chaos newsletter i received announcing the release of version 8. Doesn't appear to be a "test".

Didn't see Stefan-L's post until now. I guess it's out then. Based on Tom's comments, seemed like it would be longer.

Right, once out in newsletter and on our socials, it is final and live :) Exactly what I meant about you will know once it is live.

That was actually longer than we had hoped for, a couple of teething troubles that took a wee while longer to resolve, but we got there. It was never a test in that phrasing - we were testing things to make sure they work, but not a test in the sense of it might become "unlive and be reverted". Things went live in stages, so that other things could be tested and issues resolved, so that then we could tell everyone once everything was working and there wouldn't be pain points or frustrations where users ran into an issue.

Hi TomG - I know you dont have control over this - but thought you may have an inside track - so I'll ask anyway...

Do you know how quickly renderfarms will start supporting V8? Do they normally wait for the first hotfix or start straightaway?

I'd love to start using V8 - it has some great new tools - but I'm working on a project that will need renderfarm support in the next two weeks.

I am searching for the photographic exposure setting in v8. when I load old scenes the cam menu has it; choosing a new camera misses it. does anything has changed here?

ok, I found it in the edit menu in tone mapping. why isn't it there from startup?

Hi davetwo, no inside track, sorry :) It is entirely up to each render farm when they decide to introduce support, which is an internal thing for themselves.

I tried a job on rebus this moment and it came out the right way; so maybe try a small pixel version of an image of your job and see if it works! Probably when you don't use new features; it works.

Hi, We have this logged as a feature request to add it as a default preset. ;)

Hi,I've been experiencing problems with C4D R25 freezed after hit render to picture viwer, also if I had custom C4D layout wit Corona icons, C4D didn't start up.
S24 looks like it works fine for now without custom layout.

The scaling parameter under areas with splines seems not to be working.
I'm on R20
