I think is good for first atempt, and i hope that someone else will tray to make own material in this scene.

    • personal CG and scripting stuff also few pictures
it would be beneficial if you make the scene with 3point light setup.
And maybe some form of color coded floor (like grey scale 0 - 25 - 75 %) or RGB stripes.

But all and all good idea that should be encouraged

The idea is good and i think it will be possible after some time due to its importance.

I would not re-invent wheel for the sake of originality, model and lightning has already been done best by Bertrand.
I understand each renderer features the logo heavily but it's everything but practical..

Here's BBB3Viz scene (free) which features color contrast, strong and weak shadows and sharp HDRi reflections. Can't beat this.

I had opened a discussion like this some time ago

http://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,764.msg5780.html#msg5780

and I think the model must have the characteristics of flat surface and rounded with variable thicknesses and scales to evaluate the dispersion.
Jeff Patton's model is excellent to evaluate the materials . is a good starting point to create the model of Corona.
http://jeffpatton.net/2011/03/eliminate-the-mr-photographic-green-hue/

Beltrands model for me is too simple.. because is difficult valuated some particular material aspects.. like how it behaves on flat surfaces or to setup the absorption

Anyone has the Jeff Patton's model mentioned before? I would appreciate a link to download it.
Trying to make a Corona material test scene and that model looks nice for testing as you said.

Well I just found a reply from him saying:

"The material lab scene is available for download at mrmaterials.com
Link: http://mrmaterials.com/resource-central.html"

But since the mrmaterials.com is down I can't find any other way to download it.
If someone has downloaded it before please share! ;)

I did one 2 years ago for Indigo renderer but it was never accepted as matdb model. I should re-do it for Corona ;)

Archangel's model is fine but I don't like the ball-floor proportions and that glowing Corona text.

Michal's model is finally something sensible. I like it. Only suggestion I would have is make the numbers less contrasty, just slight grey difference.

Jeff Paton's version is good too.

All the other, I don't think you mean it seriously, like no offence, but that is just horrible in design. I can't even take it seriously in slightest sense. It's so ugly it hurts my eyes. It's not even practical or anything. It takes huge amount of space and would not even show the texture properly. Just random collage of ugly shapes.
No one would take Corona seriously if it would tie itself with such amateurish crap that looks like something 4years old kid scrambled on paper with his left foot.

Sorry for putting it so straight but I someone need to say it. I don't mean it badly, so again, no offence to all who try, but please, be a little bit in reality and make self-reflection when it comes to your design ability.

Cheers, peace

Ok i will say again. I think that Michaltimko hawe best model until now here, with exelent UV maping, and texture size mesurement, even scene is just right as need to be, but honestty he need litlbit to calibrate lights in his scene, and some minor things. How hi sayd to change logo to mach corona renderer.

But that not mean that other people no needs to giwe they contribution to this atempt to make good scene for material library.

I cnow  wery well what is wrong with my model and scene, so when i get some time i will tray again, and again, to make my model and scene perfect ;) .

So try to be litlbit gentle with the comments. Anyway!. On the end we will chosse best solution.

I think it would be little bit of a shame to use Indigo's. But Maru's recent one looks quite good :)

Well, I tried to do one too... it's a solid/nurbs(body object in max)...

I added my converted .obj and also .stp so that you can import and adjust the desired quality and convert again....

However, this way might not be optimal, so take it just as an idea. :)

I like that!
You can see the inside :)
I think the texture area is a bit to smal , and the logo might be to big? I will try to contribute myself:)

I guess getting an impresion on how the shader looks on different surfaces/shapes with different lightning is important?

What is the most important/practical features in this thing, do we have a list?:D
