Can you show the leaf shader?

[Max] I need help! / Re: Carpet modelling
« on: 2014-08-06, 12:50:48 »
You can use Max's native hair and fur modifier in geometry mode. It has some limitations but should be sufficient in most cases. You can also model separate hair or hair clumps and use Corona Scatter object. Or you can use a proper displacement map depending on what kind of carpet you want. :)

This is pure awesomeness. The look of foliage and the DoF shape reminds me of pictures I took some time ago with a soviet FED 5B camera. :) Such works must make Keymaster and the whole Corona team proud of their child. :)

I can see there are some little errors in this scene like doubled vertices near window holes but I don't know if they are affecting performance. This is a pretty hard lighting situation and there are reflective materials everywhere, this must be the case. Would it render any faster in some other renderer?

Wouldn't it be the same as falloff map in glossiness?
Yes. It looks so.

At about 14:20 he is enabling another layer of reflections, so it's just a mix of 2 glossiness values. Definitely not what we want to achieve. :)
I think the blue wall in the video would only be one layer,  it wouldn't be layered,
its only a coat of paint not varnished or clear coat.
I don't know what you mean by one layer. The objects is rendered on one layer and the material may be one layer, but he is clearly setting up another layer of reflection glossiness. You get two layers: one that is more "shiny" and one that is more "blurry". This is not what happens in real life. You would need A LOT (or preferably infinite amount) of layers with different glossiness levels.

Here is my visualization of what happens. Sorry if what I write and show does not make any sense, I'm having a killer headache. :>

We need to wait for dispersion to verify this.

How about increasing PT samples to 64-512? Just for science. ;)

General CG Discussion / Re: Path Tracing
« on: 2014-08-03, 13:45:10 »
It was already mentioned few times. I think it's a really interesting solution for video games and real-time visualizations. I suspect there is a lot of biases and fakes in it and you need a really powerful pc (gpu?) to run it with reasonable frame rate but these are just my speculations, I don't know any technical stuff behind it.

btw, I think someone should change this topic's title...

I'm just guessing, but if you are using A7, then maybe setting internal resolution back to 2 would help?

11201
Interesting! I´m kind of slow haha.. so if I understand correctly you only used a noise bitmap in the refl. gloss slot? :)
Hah, I'm not good at explaining stuff. :) I used procedural noise.

Work in Progress/Tests / Re: romullus's wips

So I guess it's a feature. But I wonder if it also behaves like this in other renderers.

How did you do this? It's really cool! :D

It's a BOX as media for material 'FOG'.

media BOX' with camera in it don't give the same result.

What. So it is a box or global volume?
I just wanted to know how you made it appear like there is volumetric noise in it.

Nice, but it has some flaws. Like the pencil - it's a very important part of the image but the bump seems wrong to me. It could also have some "dirt" - like shredded edges (AO?) or cracks. The sawdust springs could benefit from SSS or at least translucency and they could be thinner. Same with paper. But generally the image is very good, congratulations for finishing it!!
