That's been the "all or nothing" work on the node editor for materials - unlike many features, it can't be released incrementally; it has to be working before it can be released, and of course it's completely new both in UI and code, nothing like it in C4D, and nothing like it in the Corona core as Max has its own Slate editor so we didn't need to write that there :)

Most likely it's the native Max Falloff map, plugged into the Diffuse slot.

Works fine here, both VFB open no IR, and IR - note that there is some sort of "pre render script" that the scene wants to run, but that I don't have, so not sure if that is affecting things on your side.

Max 2019, Corona 2 (would be good to know the versions you were using, and if you are getting a crash, the mini dump is always always always very useful - thanks!)

Well, he did create Meteora, which is a rather well-regarded project :)

You can change how often Adaptivity (and so noise level) is calculated, it's in the devel debug section. Do note, though, that the default of 5 has been chosen deliberately (so that things are efficient), but the option to change it is there - personally, I only change it for debugging purposes (hence the name of the section!) when wanting to watch closely what noise is doing each pass :)

Of course not quite the same as having a button (but why would you want that btw? Could you explain more as to why that would be useful for you?)

Thanks!

That's where a Direct Visibility background override would come in (but, that doesn't seem to have any effect when using LightMix, afaik). Perhaps saving it out with alpha and replacing the background in post might work in the meantime?

So, more complex than it looked - just so happened my DR Slave was giving me some horizontal stretching from anisotropy so that looked like it was working.

As I kept testing though, the DR Slave remained locked at producing the same horizontal blur even if I changed the Anisotropy (so I got a "cross shape" in the blur). Then it stopped showing any horizontal or vertical stretching at all, no matter what the aniso value was. So something is broke here :)

4028
Just did a test and it worked - one DR server and using Anisotropy from a CoronaCamera, but with no Custom Bokeh map. Were you using a Custom map?

Should work with any image format - however, are you referring to the Beauty pass, or the LighMix pass? The LightMix will always be affected by changes to the LightSelect for the environment. I think that would be by design though, as the ToneMapControl isn't designed to exclude something from the LightMix (as you can individually control the LightSelect for it anyway). It does correctly stop EV from changing the background in the LightMix pass, but doesn't stop the changes to the LightSelect layer (at least in my test).

If you are experiencing something different, sharing the scene and description of expected / desired results would be good!

[Max] I need help! / Re: Matte Material
« on: 2018-07-18, 18:58:16 »
Not sure what you are looking for - for a "black void" simply made the Diffuse black in a default material, and it will basically be a black hole :) However if you are looking to mask out the object, it may be even better to use the Render Elements to create the masks by object id, etc. (https://corona-renderer.com/wiki/render_elements)

Well, we won't put ALL our strength onto it, since there are many areas that need work. But there is stuff going on with caustics, see Adam's Keynote from Total Chaos:

You did note the info in the control that says that you need to re-render? If you start IR, or finish a render, then adjust tone mapping, the background will still be affected (until you re-render). Let us know if that's not what you are experiencing, though :)

"i used a hdri but it became blown out when i increased the exposure. any tips what to do about that?"

You can pass the HDRI through the CoronaToneMap control, which prevents it from being adjusted by the VFB tone mapping (if you disable the Exposure checkbox in the ToneMap control)

EDIT - you will note in the info for the ToneMap that this is only true when you start a render, if you adjust tone mapping in IR or after the render has finished, it will still affect the HDRI.

Corona render for Cinema 4D have no Z-depth? (

It does, see attached. I don't recall when it was introduced, so be sure to be using the latest daily build in case it isn't in the last full Beta 1 release :)

[C4D] General Discussion / Know Your Devs - Nikola Tomšů
« on: 2018-07-17, 17:05:24 »
All the C4D users are following the general news and discussions on here too, right? :) Worth doing, because for example the next Know Your Devs is all about our C4D lead plugin developer! Post your questions to get to know him (not technical questions, feature requests etc, keep those in the already existing locations, ty!) over at the thread:
