One thing not exactly related to Corona. It's more of my lack of 3dsMax general knowlege.

Few days ago I got my pc frozen when attempting to create a nice furry rug with max's Hair and Fur so I decided to open a new topic here.
It doesn't nessesairly have to be fur -  any realistic looking carpet advice would be greatly appreciated.

I see a lot of great examples of carpets and rugs in user galleries so maybe someone could be kind to share some tips ?

Anyway , Keymaster - Thanks for Corona man.

I was keen to hear Keymasters' view on this...  Hair/Fur, proxies or displacement?  There are plenty of tutorials out there but nothing has really worked for me yet...

I tend to use corona scatter with a single piece of low poly modelled wool...but it's probably a very brute force way of doing it. I'm all ears to other suggestions.
Vray who?

Unfortunately, corona isn't able to reproduce a nice fur. We usa H&F with geometry, but it's very slow process.
Also, the geometry fur, hasn't a nice shape, because it's a simple cylinder.

I use this technique

http://bertrand-benoit.com/blog/2011/02/20/shag-carpet-using-forest-pack/

You can use the forest pack lite plugin, but this can also be done with the build in corona scatter tool.

Here's an example of my result using this. although I'm pretty sure I could do better by now :) https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2176.0;attach=9077;image

Thanks for all your replies guys .

And fellazb , i think your carpet looks great.
I will definitely try scattering geometry ,either with corona or forest pack .

I my self use other techinque

I use Hair&Fur, to set the proper parameters, I set the count to 0,25 of what I want to get in my final.

Then I click the option convert to mesh
Change the seed of the hair, and do that again
I do this operation 4-5 times. Then export the mesh to proxy.
Works fine and loads fast, and looks good.
Using Corona since 2014-01-02
