Hello everybody,
I just tried using the new "multiple suns" feature of the lightmix of version 4 but I would like to use the Corona Sky maps for the environment and It looks like I can't link two different Corona Sky maps to the two suns I have in scene, so when I do the mix the sky always refers to only one sun and looks wrong in the other scenario.
Am I missing something? Or should I use hdr environment maps instead of the procedural sky?
I hope my question is clear enough…

I’ve tried the chamfer+subdivide solution and it reduces the problem almost completely!
I will also try to install the daily build to see if it works with the original geometry. (I’ve never tried daily builds until now because I use RebusFarm and I’m afraid that I could have issues with the version they use...

Hello everyone,
I have an issue with distance map, using the "color inside" option of the map. I want to use it to apply different materials on a terrain (and also as a mask for the CScatter grass)
The object that defines the roads is made with an extruded spline, which shouldn't have issues, since the extrusion is capped correctly on top and bottom.
The shape is quite complex and, because of that, some portions of the terrain have the wrong materil applied. If I try to add or remove vertices to the spline, the resulting errors vary in position and shape. I have tried dividing it in two o more separate objects but the result is quite the same…
Does anybody have found a solution or workaround to this particular issue?

An update…
I tried opening with Max 2020 the same scene that didn't work on Max 2019 and it opened correctly, than I saved it for 2019 and now it works there too… (I couldn't keep working on it in 2020 because of missing plugins, like multitexture...)

Sorry, it was a different scene… Still not working!

Hello Mferster, I've solved the issue. The problem was in one of the materials of the bushes which had both refraction and transucency. I removed refraction and now it works! Strangely, if I render the same bush by itself and not as a part of a scatter, it works correctly even with the old material; maybe Corona scatter uses some optimization that makes the problem come out...

Hello,
I attach a couple of renders where I have issues with scattered items (corona proxies); I have a scatter with grass and a scatter with bushes and plants. In some points of the images the bushes disappear behind the grass (they look like they have a wrong mask), while their shadow is still visible.
I still have to investigate the problem but maybe someone have a suggestion on what could have happened.

I like the mood! Also the 2D people look natural (I hate inserting 2D people because they never look correct enough in my renders).
I only would have turned more one of the two trees in the foreground to make less evident that they are the same model.

Sometimes I wish I could be able to simply tilt the clipping plane so that it isn't parallel to the camera. I think that in many cases it could accomplish the same effect without having to deal with include/exclude lists…
Do you think it coud be possible/useful, Maru?

Short answer: this is currently not possible in Corona, as it does not accept some "fakes" like this.
Questions: What exactly is this needed for? Is this commonly used?
One use I can think of is to add some reflections or rim lights to improve the look of an object in scene, without having to pay attention to unwanted reflections or shadows on surrounding objects.
Although, I admit that I never needed it in my works because usually I have to make several different views of the same scene and I never have time to make separate light rigs for each camera, so I try to balance things for the best possible look with a single light setup…

Also, working with the material, every light would be affected and you couldn't chose to include only specific lights…
Maybe in this specific case it would be easier to make multiple renders and work in post with masks to delete shadows?

on Maxplugins.de you can find earlier versions too, but unfortunately I've tried to download the plugin and it doesn't work with Corona…
With scanline render it works and the desired objects can ignore individual lights and avoid casting their shadows but this is a very old plugin and doesn't even work with the photometric lights but only with the basic ones…
Sorry but I haven't other ideas… :(

I remember that years ago I used a free plugin from Habware that lets you decide a light include/exclude list from the object and not from the light.

I haven't tested it with Corona but maybe it can help. (If it works and if you use online rendering like Rebusfarm, check if they have it installed before using it…)

What do you use to obtain chromatic aberration? I agree that it should be kept very low but sometimes it helps…
I tried ArionFX and it works very well but I was looking for a free alternative!

At present it only happened to me on one of my older works, done with Max2016 and Corona2. I reinstalled Corona2 to work on that scene and than returned to version 3 without further problems on other files… (the scene with that issue still doesn't work)
