[Max] I need help! / How to use the uvw map Randomiser ?
« on: 2017-09-30, 23:24:37 »

Hi,  I'm trying to figure out how to use the randomise UVW map ?  with the floor generator script ?  I have one big timber texture that I crop a certain part off floor boards, I just need to offset the V.
Does it work on sub elements ? do I still need to apply a material element id the floor boards ? and use the multi map as well ?

General CG Discussion / 3dsmax 2016 won't start ??
« on: 2016-10-23, 03:39:46 »
3dsmax 2016 has stopped working on Windows 7.

I have uninstalled every autodesk product,
deleted adskflex_xxxxxxxx_tsf.data file in ProgramData\FLEXNet.
deleted all files in c:programs\Autodesk\
deleted all files in c:Users\Autodesk\

Reinstalled 3dsmax 2016

I'm wondering if there is some windows update that has screwed it up ?

3dsmax 2017 works

General CG Discussion / Renderman Videos Vimeo
« on: 2016-10-22, 02:47:10 »

If anyones interested in rendering tech, especially Renderman.
They put some informative videos up a few weeks back.
They're worth a look and well done too.

Is there anyway to adjust the exposure after rendering ? with the Physical camera ?
I realise this is one of the benefits of the Physical Camera, being able to set each camera to a different exposure.
However I find the new Perspective Correction is better and easier to use than using the standard camera with correction modifier.

Hardware / Micro ATX build for Portablity
« on: 2015-06-21, 03:49:08 »

Hi Guys,

I'm looking at upgrading, its time to buy a new PC.
I need something smaller than my regular tower mid ATX cases, some that's portable, that I can sit on a desk so I
don't have to crawl around under the desk to plug everything in.
Now I've had a look around and it seems micro ATX is pretty much the smallest I can go, since I'd to have 32GB
when prices come down. At the moment I'll be stuck with 16GB. But that also depends one which socket/CPU I go for.
The Silverstone FT03S MicroATX Mini Tower Case or the Bitfenix Phenom.

As far as CPU's I'm still undecided if I should go with the new socket 2011-3 or save some serious dollars and go with the 1150 socket ?
Intel Socket 1150 :: Intel Core i7 4790K Intel Socket 2011-3 :: Intel Core i7 5930K

So my build so far is:

CPU    - Intel Core i7-5930K 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor

CPU Cooler-Corsair H55 57.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Motherboard   - EVGA Micro Micro ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard

Memory   - Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory

Storage   - Crucial MX200 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Storage - Western Digital BLACK SERIES 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card   - EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB FTW ACX 2.0 Video Card

Case    - Silverstone FT03S MicroATX Mini Tower Case

Power Supply   - SeaSonic Platinum 860W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Gallery / New Renders
« on: 2013-04-02, 01:17:05 »

Here's a couple of production renders.
The kitchen one was originally in Mental ray, the client wanted to make some changes and wanted it render at 10k.
Mental ray was taking too long, so a quick convert to corona with the Deadclowns script and a couple of tweaks and Corona render it a hell of a lot quicker :)

[Max] General Discussion / Saving render elements button
« on: 2013-02-10, 08:11:50 »

Hi Key,

I'd like to see a save render elements and beauty button :)

So many times I hit cancel on a render since its clean of noise only having to manually save out all the passes and beauty.

cheers

So its Coronas turn :)

Let me know what you think, always open for critique.

[Max] Resolved Feature Requests / Modo Version, screw Max :)
« on: 2012-09-19, 02:41:55 »

Make corona for Modo, a new material editor and I'll dump 3dsmax in a second :)

28

Corona needs a shadow catcher material for comping 3D into back plates.
Must be able to catch the shadows from all corona lights and environment.

cheers

Add coronas sun to 3dsmax's daylight system.
I need longitude/latitude and 3dsmax's viewport shadows.

Off-Topic / Corona Popularity - Introduce your self
« on: 2012-09-12, 01:36:29 »

Hi,

I've noticed the last couple of months Corona is gaining  popularity and just thought I'd start a thread where we introduce ourselves.

I've been working in 3D since 3dsmax 1.0, working in various companies in Australia.
Started off animating characters for realtime web movies, childrens DVD's/TV shows, computer games.
Moved from the city to the coast and started a Architectural vis company, thats going through tough times, I hope that picks up soon.

So my main focus of interest became renderers, I own Maxwell, Fryrender, Thea Render, Vray and Mental ray.

I bumped into Ludvik on the mental ray forums probably a year or so ago and started discussing renderers.
I tried to get him interested in another renderer (which I won't name cause I really like those guys and there product ).
Ludvik told me about Corona.
Well once I started playing around with Corona, I couldn't stop,  the pure speed and clean results of Global Illumination was just amazed me.
No slow speeds of unbiased rendering and no pissing around with light cache and irradiance map settings, it just works.
The development speed of Keymaster, he just keeps on adding features within weeks, sometimes days.
Translucency one week, Anisotropy the next,  sun & sky, Scattering, proxies, DOF and the last month or two, displacement, motion blur, render elements !!!
This guy is on fire and its only in Alpha !!!

Well a nearly a year later and I'm still here using Corona.

So how did you get interested in Corona ?
