You can choose smaller, but brighter lights and/or darken the background. In other words, you want bigger difference between brightest and darkest parts of the scene. That should give you more pronounced and crispier reflections.

Did you try to change the lighting to a more contrasty one? Your material previews in the material editor looks very glossy, so it's most likely that the "issue" is in the lighting. If it's very diffuse, which is quite common in studio setup, then materials might struggle to show clear glossy reflections, because there's not enough contrast for that.

Gaussian splats are being considered for the future release in Corona: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=41024.msg228150#msg228150

There are multiple discussions about that in the forum already, you may want to do a quick search if you want to stay up to date on the topic.

Couple suggestions from me, not sure if either would work, but worth trying. 1) see if tyflow can use point clouds for particle seeding. 2) if it's dense point cloud, then maybe you could try to mesh it. I think RCS is Reality Capture's format?

Sorry, can't help with that. I'm working with gamma workflow. I don't understand that colour management mumbo jumbo.

Check if displacement is enabled in render setup>common>options. It's a global setting and will affect all the displacement in the scene.

Hi,

Are you getting any warning messages about missing textures? Also, make sure that all the objects have proper UV coordinates assigned to them.

You're most welcome :]

Your material has additional outputs set to 0 (default), you need to increase that value to the number of outputs you need. Say if you want to plug the tiles map to diffuse, roughness and displacement, you need to set additional outputs to 2, so it will be one default output + 2 additional. You can read this help article if you want to learn more about multiple outputs in Corona: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/15771759780369-Multiple-Input-and-Output-Maps

What noise settings did you use please,? mine looks way too blurry :-/

You can increase noise contrast by adjusting its threshold settings - decrease high and increase low. In my case it was something like 0,5 high and 0,49 low. If you shift threshold towards high or low, you will get more blacks or lows, so something like 0,35 high and 0,34 low will get you high contrast and predominantly white colours. Feel free to experiment with the values until you get result that you need. If you'll get the pattern right, but won't be happy with its placement, try to adjust phase. Hope that helps.

the scene has a large number of different sloping areas that has me shying away from doing it as models so would prefere to do via map on the polys that make up the paving area

In that case Corona tiles map is what you need.

Unless you want to control displacement settings per object level, or don't want to open material editor to make changes in displacement, there's no other benefits in using modifier versus displacement in a material.

You can find it in the bitmap load window. Alternatively you can press data image button and Max will set it automatically for you.

json says, area = 1x1m and height 0,036m

so i have adjusted the displacement to -3,37cm and 3,37cm

Assuming midpoint is in the middle, your displacement settings should be closer to -1,8 cm MIN and 1,8 cm MAX Also make sure that displacement, roughness and normal maps are loaded with gamma 1,0 override and the normal map has Y channel flipped in Corona normal map node.
