Hi Corona Team,

How about a volume or box that can wrap around the area where the user wants to concentrate high quality render settings and GI bounces and anything outside the box can be low priority.

I was long ago suggesting to the Corona team to build an automatic, stronger calculation for shadow areas, where noise ist typically higher.
Also for scenes like rooms with large mirrors... generate a lot of noise.
Best would be with a control slider, so the user can decide how strong the cleaning in the shadows should be.

Sure it would help.
Especially, if devised to work based on object/material IDs or cryptomatte.

Something like Maxwell's "Extra Sampling"

or upcomming appleseed's new feature "Texture-Controlled Pixel Renderer"

With possibility for the user to stop/halt rendering at any time, set a mask or define IDs and it's priorities... then continue rendering, refining samples where one needs or sees fit.

Oh & while at it, it just occurred to me that "Denoise masking" could also be a great feature to save time and relieve user from tedious post refinements.
