I haven't been able to reproduce the error with a different file, so am inclined to write it off as an anomaly.

This topic can be moved to resolved bugs.

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Activating Object Motion Blur Crash
« on: 2016-03-21, 12:45:17 »
Hi, I have encountered an error that crashes C4D at the beginning of the rendering process (after prep). I can reproduce the error with a particular file by activating object motion blur on the active camera. Without the motion blur it renders without crashing.

Attached are the bug reports without the scene itself - it's confidential but if absolutely needed I could discuss with a dev via email about gaining access to the file.

Corona A4 HF1, C4D R16, Windows 10

Cheers

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Corona Multi-Pass Instant Crash
« on: 2016-03-15, 14:34:12 »
Using Corona A5 RC1 for C4D. Opening up new empty file, switching to Corona in render settings and right clicking to add Corona-Multi Pass - C4D instantly crashing.

Attached bug report and screenshot.

Thanks

**EDIT: This was R16 (up-to-date) on Windows 10 but can confirm the same crash with R17 just without the notification or bug report.**

[C4D] Resolved Feature Requests / Re: License Server

Yes!..and no! :D

Well definitely this is better than a hardware dongle or auth token. But what I mean is using Maxon's official license server, rather than setting up another license server on my network here.

I guess the C4D development hasn't got far enough to answer this question yet, but typically C4D plugins are linked to a C4D serial number, will the Corona for C4D license be linked to C4D serial numbers? I've attached a screenshot from my testing license server so you can see what I mean. You can neatly add plugin serial numbers and it automatically detects the main C4D license it is associated with and issues those licenses as they are requested on the network.

I'll happily setup a dedicated Corona license server on my network if needed but using Maxon's official license server would be ideal :)

[C4D] Resolved Feature Requests / License Server

This is more of a feature 'pre-request'. But when you launch the commercial version of Corona for C4D, could you please implement licensing using Maxon's own license server. When deploying a number of C4D licenses in a studio, as I do, plugins that rely on auth tokens present on each machine are a serious pain in the a** :D

The Laubwerk guys have implemented the official license server system for Surface Spread and it works a charm! I helped them debug as they didn't have a working license server setup and if you guys need the same I am happy to offer!

Keep up the great work! :)

@Mor4us

Search your C4D content library for the 'tilt camera'. It has an xpresso linked user control for vertical correction. I wouldn't recommend any horizontal correction, just have your camera perpendicular to the plane you want to appear regular.

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Corona Alpha4 Benchmark scene
« on: 2016-01-22, 08:33:00 »
we will do a new benchmark in few weeks that will report the score automatically to a table on our website, so rather save yourself the trouble ;)

Ok, good to hear. I'm planning on building a new render box so it would be good to compare CPUs and decide what's the best bang for buck!

Corona Renderer Alpha 4 benchmark scene
Living room 100 passes
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1680 v2 @ 3.00GHz
Time: 0:4:20, Rays/s: 4,871,249

Incidentally this benchmark was run on a Late 2013 MacPro running Parallels Desktop and Windows 10.

If no one has done it yet I'll set up a Google Sheet to collate all these benchmarks.

Yes, devs, we need some input on either DR using C4D Team Render or a standalone Corona DR system. For anyone producing many, high-res images or animations the idea that we could render everything on one machine is just not realistic.

Team Render can also support large still images using the tiled cam, so in theory we should be able to DR stills even now.

Obviously a standalone solution (similar to Vray for C4D, but with some actual usable web-based interface) would be preferable and I know this is something that the Corona team will implement in the long-term, but it would be good to hear if there are any thoughts or progress at this stage.

Thanks!

@exor

I think Nekrobul is referring to the composition of the shot, that perhaps viewed from a cat's perspective is an issue. Personally I think the only issue with that image is the strong DOF on the foreground lamp. The shot could perhaps have something else in the left third of the composition, but not so close to the camera.

This is nit-picking though, the images are amazing! It would be great to see a short tutorial on your setup, especially with regards to lighting :)
