If you set PT samples low enough, DoF will converge a bit better. Also, in recent daily builds, it is defaulted to a new random sampler, that should be a bit more efficient for DoF. For the scenes created prior to this build, you can try so switch random sampler in Devel/Debug settings to 5D High-D + PRNG and see if it improves DoF convergence speed ;)

what? i have the same proc :s, i think you're using a big render and you down scale it after that, but even that using dof it is clean, what's your secret hehe
