So then the days of setting blur to default low value are to be gone? Interesting. I always followed Ludvik's advice on that one.

I always found interesting how differently people set this up.

For example:

Bertrand: Filtering OFF, but Blur kept default 1.0
Grant W: Filtering ON, but Blur adjusted to 0.01

Then there is of course, OFF + 0.01, which should in theory give the best result most close to original texture, but that often just produces artifacts, and downright doesn't work for sensitive maps (bump, glossy,etc..).

Now I am interested if this data is something handled purely by 3dsMax, or is it interpreted differently by renderers as this thread suggests ?

interesting indeed. - i have been battling with texture blurriness and concluded that high res textures need the Grant approach and smaller resolution textures can do quite well with Betrands approach

the measure being high res 3000x plus and low res being anything below 2500x

interested to hear the technical logic behind this phenomena. but common sense would tilt towards pixel density and how much work the blur&filtering would need to do per relationship between pixels.

Hi all

I've been using Vray (failing at it) but it forced me to learn a new language in technical image production - I mean damn how do you begin explaining Sampling rates and AA required to optimise a part of an image to get better results and time? It's Madness.

So earlier last year I met corona and instantly fell in love.  So much so that I implemented in my First year Masters degree renders and panels.

So here is some 2014 stuff from my time in the Masters programme in Architecture.

Lots of post prod - will post wires and  raw renders should they spark any interest.

Quite rough because of deadlines but corona kept up well with the deadlines and A1 panels at 7000x9900px! !

I LOVE THIS SOFTWARE.

ps: worried about financing it as a South African user when vs comes out.

Anyway herewith!

Yea, that package is great. I have done some tests already.

Thanks for link, amazing model.

How did you get this achieved, wow

Hmm, i think the materials are just too flat.
You should check the bump/spec/displacement-mapping and activate rounded edges.

True true... will focus on displacement next round. I normally focus on post.  Thanks

Material and atmospheric Practice based on Viscorbels materials volume 2 series.

I should be posting a wet after rain autumn fall scene in the next day or so.... All practice so suggestions fully welcome.

Maybe even suggestions for a season and atmosphere

Colour ● mood ● lighting and textures are nice light and rich!

Enjoyable set of images.

● Nice wood floor - suggest again reducing the shine (play with glossiness value and try also floor generator plug in or sort out bump value because it looks like one big sheet of wood.

● sometimes it's best to show less in each shot so the collection of images tell the story of the room. Trying to cram everything into one shot and every shot can distract from the quality of the designer - checkout the video and article we spoke about on the 2015 quick start post. Really helps with picking shots and angles etc.

● cool work. Keep it coming!

There is actually a cabinet series that employs that wood so that cabinet is not even an issue. Very exciting drive for the new year you have. I to plan to improve my skills n be better in 2015. Also a student who will soon be working but share the same fear of not liking the architecture/interior production work environment.  But am excited anyway. Can't wait to see more stuff.

c & c:
● all images could do with even very feint hints that there is some sky outside even if overcast and high exposure camera settings.

● the floor is very shine but hey sometimes the design has high lacquering and buffering. Not an issue, just super shine

● in all images the bloom/glow is high. Cool mood but when done in moderation.

● shot 3 has this human looking down camera angle which tends to be "real" which can sometimes be boring

An invaluable article (includes embedded video) about interior photography is available at vray world - http://vrayworld.com/index.php?section=tutorials&category=photography&tutorial=photography-how-to-shoot-3d-interior-photography-beginner

● take all the suggestions with a pinch of salt - lightly. As this is actually great work.

Anyway I am no expert and actually enjoy these images alot.
The brightness and lighting and materials are great.

Anyway great work! Let's grow and make amazing design stories with corona in 2015!

Cheers!

Really interesting set of images. I like the drama in your choice of lighting. Those pendant lights look great!

If you're going back in to add some detail I'd suggest looking into some connection detailing between the structural steelwork. Those beams are about to fall down :)

hahaha! will keep that in mind for next time. in my head its all ultra flush welding no bolts - but visual detailing sets the mind at east i guess

thanks  for feedback

- lighting design by me for the cut-classic-bust in black. and the ceiling lights are based on Ontwerpduo's lighting style.

Corona's handling of multiple light sources is fantastic.

mainly HDR + ceiling lights with each bulb with self illuminating material inside (an invisible plane light for overall area for each ceiling light) + wall/pendant lights.

this is when it sucks to be in south africa, no ikea or easy shipping and payment especially with small companies etc... sigh.

cool animation and product!

Good clean workflow tip. Thanks a lot for that.  It's well consolidated. And on a side note the visuals on your blog are great!
