Sorry for late reply. Holiday.. :)

Your specs looks pretty nice. But few years ago I had D7100 nikon which isn't FF camera. It just does not give me desired result, so for now only FF cameras. And it means I need powerful drone to lift them.

All those raisins in DJI phantom 4 are nice and cool. Home function or obstacle avoidance is superb helper when you are new to this. Too bad they don't work 100% precisly and you can easily crash your money. It gives you some mental comfort, which may lead to crash when system fails.

My setup is about 5k euro. Drone, Canon gimbal (needs some 3D printing parts for NIKON suport), DJI lightbridge 2. And yes, of course you can use your tablet or phone as a screen :)

Sebastian, actually after your post I changed my mind about drones. It's not that hard to combine some different parts and customize them. And it's fun.
After few days of research and forums reading, I ended with that the best solution for me could be DJI S1000 drone with custom gymbal. Yep, its another price category, but possibilities also. It can lift up 5-8kg for 13-18 mins. Would be a perfect solution for my Nikon D800.
I don't know why, but all those DJI phantoms and inspires are oriented only on movies. They can produce pretty decent videos, but when it comes to stills – zero benefits. Spending 1.5-4.5k euros will only give you 12-16MP photos with crapy colors and quality. Especially when I have D800, I don't want to spend money on another one mounted on drone. So S1000 could be a nice choise. It has official canon gymbals, but no for nikon. Anyway, as you mentioned, it  can be customized pretty easily.

Maru, yep, thats a good deal if you use that for filming amateur videos. I just found out that a good part of DJI forum auditory are real esatate brokers.. and they have different needs compared to my :)

Will have summer holidays, so probably will give a try on setup I mentioned above.

Hi, Sebastian.

Thanks for relply. Do you have any examples of attaching camera to DJI? It would be really nice if it is possible. I mean, does it still have stability without vibrations? And how would camera rotation and etc. works?

BTW. One guy in my city has self-made drone which cares 1.2kg panasonic camera up to 25mins. Yup, its huge, but does the job. And still.. the photos aren't thaat good, so dji will probably be ever worse.

Hi folks,

Anyone here using phantom dji4? Planning to buy one, but I am not sure if it's good enough. Video and filming looks ok for my needs, but for photography it might be too weak. Optics doesn't look so bad, but resolution is a thing which bothers me mostly. If anyone has any experience, would appreciate all the knowledge.

BTW, I couldn't find any raw photos taken with DJI4. That would be big helper.

Thanks a alot.

Hi,

Been working on a small and quick project for a few days. It's one of those which can be shared, so decided to post final result here. All scene is 3D, except interior BG. It took me 2 days to complete from scratch.

Comments are welcome.

Thanks

Realy nice !
May I ask you, where did you find the tall pines ?

Thank you, Nicolas.

You mean texture or real pines? I made a photo series myself. The real location is in Klaipeda, Lithuania. There are many of them :)

That is much better.

Is that a foil coated glass ? Seems super reflective :- ).

It seems to me also. Thats why I said I will give some more time :) Bit strange, since it's 1.51714 IOR with 1.0 at multiplier, never had it to be so strong. Depends on lighting probably.

So I couldn't resist trying methods by Juraj and Deadclown. And it gave some better results.

@Nekrobul you are totally right, there was some errors with glass mat, since I wasn't happy with simple glass.

Glass isn't perfect by now, I will give some time this weekend to test it more. Now it's time to work.

@TomG Indeed. But it still better that back pains when sitting all day in office :)

@DeadClown Good point. I actually missed that. There is also a chance it's problem of glass material or overexposed lighmap(used higher multiplier for reflection image). Will check that out next time.

Edit. Ok, DeadClown, I have to admit.. big fail. If you mean those black reflection on right house, so thats just geometry before lightmaterial. Those trees not only didn't work, but also failed on final image even not beeing used :)

Hi,

This week I had a chance to work on a small project, so decided to share some images and short write up.

What is interesting about this piece.. I was totally suprised how incredibly well can coronalight map work!

The problem was that there is actually no good looking pine models in the market (I even bought last evermotion collection which didn't give me desired result, will post another project soon). So you might be wondering what was the workflow for pines.. :)

It actually quite exotic..I had a super great two day trip to house location, super great weather, photoshoot and night in the pinewoods with tent and all those crazy mosquitoes :) Yep, I love this work!
So basicly 24mp photos were used for BG, mapped on a rectangle with coronalight material. And thats it, simply powerful (unless you zoom in 100% on 8k image :)

All other are 3D. Surely, I am not 100% satisfied with final result of some aspects, but have no time limits to play more. And the client is happy.

Thanks for your time. If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

EDIT: orignal images has been updated. To see comparison look for GIF.

Nice comments by TomG.

First of all, grab real aerial photo on google.images with desired mood and lighting. Analyse it hardly.

Having sun behind the camera, as you see, causes very flat view because there is no visible shadows at all. Also try fixing shadow bluriness, since it is too sharp in first images and too blurry in last one. I see that you are trying to add kind of fog, it is good. But in real life it would have blue/cyan tint.

Basicly, for aerials you have to work hard on textures, dirts and tilling things.

Hi!

Thanks for the comment. The grass and hedge in background are all models. Indeed I have selectively adjusted curves for the hedge making it more contrasty and brighter in comparison to what it was. I will think it through and check how it "feels" without those curves applied. In couple of hours I will post an image.

Cheers.

All right then. You know the thing, so couple tests would do a trick I think.

Trying vegation with smaller leaves might help. And I would give more attention to materials:  corona two sided and color variety for different leaves. Braches diffuse looks bit too white also
