General CG Discussion / Re: Rhino to 3DSMax
« on: 2021-02-18, 09:07:39 »
Holy Moly Buzzz,

That is the nicest import I've seen (tested it myself and boy, it's much better than anything I've ever produced).

The funny news is; as importing was such a hassle since my original post I've forced myself to learn modelling in Max properly. So now this info is kind of unnecessary for me these days :)

Good news; now know max, bad news; don't use rhino anymore :(

Wow, well done. Thanks mate, appreciate it! :D

Whatever happened with this issue. Would really like to be able to edit scale (and pivot points) of CProxy objects for scattering...

Looks great! Well done.

I tried this a few weeks ago (using a similar set up as done by Frood here: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=24520.msg147874#msg147874)

However, I couldn't get such a nice result... and yours is even better!

Would you mind sharing your workflow for this?

I am an architect ;)

I also just happen to work mostly in archviz.

It actually is an open competition, so anyone can submit. It's also highly unlikely that the winning entry will ever be selected to actually be built anyway, so the structural integrity of the design is a low-priority. This is an ideas competition.

Off-Topic / Notre Dame

Hi guys,

I'm considering entering a design into the current Notre Dame Cathedral re-build competition.

I'd like to get the work done as fast as possible (it's the only way I can justify spending time on a non-paying job). This probably means it'd be best to start with a nice, clean, usable 3D model of Notre Dame available.

My query;  does any friendly Corona user here have a nice model of Notre Dame cathedral they'd be willing to share?

Alternatively, would anyone else who is considering entering the competition be willing to go splits in buying a 3D model with me? (I know, I know, this probably violates user agreements, so this is certainly an unfavorable query...)

Just thought I'd throw this out there, thanks!

Hi,

This is still an issue with me... I am crazy or should it not work like this?

Any updates?

That'd be a very handy plug-in!

If it does exist, it'd also be super for it to work with time-tracking apps such as Toggl

I have the same issue... very odd!

A workaround would be handy to know :)

[Max] Feature Requests / Re: Camera modifier panel
« on: 2018-09-17, 12:36:26 »
How long does it take camera modify panel to load? Is it only CoronaCamera or 3ds max modify panel in general that is laggy?

Edit: for me CoronaCamera modify panel takes about 0,3-0,5 seconds to load - i find it acceptable.

Mine takes around 5 seconds to load. Not horrible, but certainly frustrating...

Apologies, I think I misled... I'm not using Corona Camera modifier. I just meant that the 'modify' panel (for Corona Camera object) is slow.

Shame that it might be impossible. It's such a pain to have camera + target selected, attempt to modify a setting and the remember that I first I have to deselect and then wait for the bloody modify panel to load.

[Max] Feature Requests / Camera modifier panel
« on: 2018-09-17, 03:44:41 »
Hi all,

I'd be a really great time saver to have the ability to modify the corona camera parameters when either (or both) the camera or target is selected.

Currently, it takes 3DS Max a long time to load the modifier panel for the corona camera, and when I have both the camera and target selected I cannot edit the camera settings. I have to unselect the target and then wait for the modifier panel to then update.

So why can't we have the modifiers available when either the target is selected (seeing as the target can only be associated with a single camera anyway) or both the camera and target are selected?

Just a thought, would love to hear others opinions.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Linking Environment to Camera
« on: 2018-09-11, 02:00:40 »
Did you try scene states? I know it's buggy and cumbersome to use, but it should do the job nonetheless.

Cumbersome, yes! And generally awful. There has to be a better way. Surely? Appreciate the reply though, mate.

I've never used it before, but this might help you out. worth looking into anyways.

https://www.ronenbekerman.com/pulze-scene-manager-announced/

I downloaded this as beta, used it for about 30 mins, crashed twice and never bothered with it again. Good tip though, maybe worth trying out again. Thanks.

I gotta say, I'm shocked this hasn't been resolved by the Corona team yet... this seems like a no-brainer and something I'd presume would attract a lot of use

Thanks Maru,

These worked. I'm now familiar with, and loving, corona distance maps!

Much appreciated.

[Max] I need help! / Linking Environment to Camera
« on: 2018-09-10, 03:52:21 »
Hi All,

I'm sure this question has been raised before, but I'm unable to find any previous posts or info... so sorry if this is a noob question.

I have multiple cameras in my scene and varied environment HDRI's (and less importantly, different Corona sun positions) I'd like to use. Each camera has it's own respective environment that I must replace in the environment slot each time I render from a different camera.

Is there a way to automatically change the environment/hdri used when I change cameras, aka; linking an environment to a camera?

Any tips much appreciated!
