I don't have a crash report to send, but I've noticed v9 crashes more when using the Interactive Renderer or Viewport. I remember v8 seemed to be rid of most of the interactive crashes that the previous versions always had, at least for Mac users. I tend to use the Viewport version more as I like being able to click directly and select an object.

Curious if anyone else has noticed more crashes using the Interactive render options? I might go back to v8 and see if I am remembering things correctly.

I haven't noticed that.
Mac Studio Ultra 128GB 20 core. R26 & v9 latest build.

I did notice that rendering a 2,8 Gb C4D file with a lot of vegetation ( large housing project with 4 highrise buildings) did not crash once the last week or so. A lot of Choas Scatter objects as well. Been doing lots of IR checking lighting and so on. I was actually surprised how solid the latest build is.

There is one thing though, the sliders in many settings don't work or are very slow. I often need to type percentages in CR settings for example in the post settings at rendering.

I have the same problem with sliders, specialy editing material colors. Are you having performance issues? On macbooks  I get render performance drop while rendering and when activate low power mode in the mac settings come back up, must be a macbook only issue.

Material color sliders basically don't work. Or very bad. Luckily you can just type in the desired percentages.

I have a similar experience with Corona 9 for 3ds Max. Maybe not as severe as described here, but still many freezes and crashes. I thought it's related to integration in 3ds Max, but it can be that it's core issue.
I'm not Corona Team member. Everything i say, is my personal opinion only.

Of course, right after posting this, I was able to work on this scene extensively using the Interactive Viewport feature with only one crash the entire day. I'll take that as long as I remember to save often. I was also in a live Zoom call and sharing my screen so we could make changes as we went. That's what it's all about right there. I think my first foray into a realistic room scene is coming along nicely.

I'm also getting interactive and final render crashes, if I change a setting ( anything)  and press render interactive render it crashes. I doesn't happen all the time but it happens

issues so far:

• Performance issues on M1 macbook pro, it drops to 50%  while in high power mode, when in lower power mode it comes back up.
• Latest build notice high usage of Kernel task taking up to 150% of the processors power.
• Specific on the latest build high Thermal throttling issues ( temp around 75c), went back to the build before and no issue.

using corona for c4d with win10, getting a lot of crashes since v9.. scenes where I was able to work before (already finished scenes) crashes a lot.. randomly when using IR... cant replicate the bug, since, as said before they are random crashes.

Hope to get it fixed.. its driving me mad right now !

thanks in advance :)

There's little we can do about crashes without having the bug report.txt so we can see just what was going on (at least, not when it is random and a set of replication steps can't be provided so we can make it crash here). See https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4648898278545-How-to-report-issues-C4D for how to get the minidump/bugreport, and then send it via ticket at support.chaos.com/requests/new - thanks!

PS we also need to know precisely WHICH version of 9 you are using, since the Release Candidates have been frequent. And which version of C4D.

Hello

Same with me. I am running either C4D 22 or C4D 25 on macOS Monterey.

I noticed a lots of crashes as reported almost every 5 to 10 minutes. They occur randomly so far only when using the Interactive Render option. Final renders seem to work fine.

The same is true for new as well as for old scenes. Corona Render 8 run extremely stable. Almost no crashes for a couple of days.

I will try to upload some error reports soon.

crashing in interactive renderer, when clicking the materials button. this thing needs a hotfix fast. it costs a small fortune where I live with 10 render nodes almost $1800 NZD. what a FN joke.

i reported this too, in bug report section  it sadly is still in final v9 for me (windows 10, c4d r25).

best send a bug report also to the Corona/chaos team(i did already)
that helps better solving it i guess,

also from other users here:

Hi,

the IPR crashes every time if I change the name of a object in the object manager .
I´m on a Ryzen 9950X (64GB RAM) and an Ryzen 3970X (128GB RAM) both machines with win11, cinema 4D 26 and 2023.1 and it happens ín corona 9 and 10(daily build Nov 3, 2022).
No crash dumps and bug reports.

Best regards,
Bastian

I also had at least 15-20 crashes a day with v9. I had my autosave set on 5 min and IR crashed for many reasons I recognize above.
But I can honestly say that I  (3990X-256GB-win10-R25) and my colleague (3970X-128GB-win10-R25) experience significant improvement with the hotfix v9.1 !

I can now use the interactive renderer without crashing while renaming, splitting geometry off, duplicating instances and instanced lights, modifying geometry in polygon/point mode for instanced elements, fastly swapping cameras in the stage object, stop IR....

Sometimes I even think to myself 'oh, I should not have done that, it will surely crash now', but no, very stable again for long periods...

What a relief ! I hope everyone has the same experience now?!

thanks guys!

I have been using the v10 daily builds and they are MUCH more stable than even v9, at lease for me on the Mac. The most stable has been using the Interactive Renderer. I haven't tried using the Interactive Viewport much lately, even though I like it a lot. The viewport setting is what crashed the most for me.
