[Max] Feature Requests / 3 features for VFB
« on: 2023-10-24, 17:49:39 »
It could be amazing if VFB can have, like the CameraRaw for photshop, the "texturize" "erase haze" and "clarity" features. They are postproduction features very useful that helps a loot on the final look. This is to avoid to enter photoshop for each render.

Many thanks!

[Max] Feature Requests / Corona mix converted to Composite
« on: 2023-10-23, 17:39:49 »
Hi,

Its possible to add more map entries to corona mix (each one with his own mix input value)? so it will be pretty using corona solution for composite and not using composite map of 3dsmax. I now that we have compostie for this purpose, but it got no sene using corona mix riht now having composite to do the same, so is preferible to keep inside corona universe and use corona mix in all situations.

Thanks.

[Max] Feature Requests / Random map for Tiles
« on: 2022-09-27, 03:04:30 »

In corona multimap, could inlcude an option "by tiles" that can be used with Tilemap of 3dsmax. Please! Its horrible to use floorgen everytime qith innecesary lot of geometry, or need to go to substance for a simple thing that corona can have resolved since lo of time. Many thanks

[Max] Feature Requests / Random By Tile in CoronaMultimap
« on: 2022-02-22, 16:03:19 »
Its possible to include a random by Tile in Multimap? In this way we could randomize colors in a 3dsmax tiles, and the life it will be a better place. :)
it will be the best if you can add a random saturation, because its only the gamma random and the hue random.

General CG Discussion / Gamma 2,2 today
« on: 2020-06-04, 03:34:18 »
There's a thing I dont understand.

Wy are we applying sRGB with gamma 0,45 to mach the 2,2 gamma of the monitor and get a lineal image? This made sense when monitors were CRT and reduced gamma, but LED displays have already been invented and there is no need to reduce the gamma of current monitors. Why do they keep reducing it?

So, since Corona works internally with WideRGB, and shows to you by sRGB, is this workflow accurate?:

OPTION A, MAKING TONEMAPPING OUT OF VBF

1- Save the image of VFB in EXR 32bits float without any tonemapping.

2- Open the EXR in Photoshop asignin wideRGB color space and using proof colors in sRGB to visualize it while we are editing the image. (we asign wideRGb because is the raw of corona understandign that corona works with wideRGB, and because photoshop have more colors to prevent banding or clamping while editing). Convert to 16bit compressing highlight and making tone mapping.

3- Convert to sRGB (in perceptual or colorimetric mode, te same choosen at proofcolors ) and if we are not happy with the conversion, go back and edit saturation in the areas that gamut warning of proof colors are pointing, to prevent unwanted changes with the conversion. (That is difficult to happen because we have been watching proofcolors in sRGB during the edition and we were already liking how it looked)

4- Save the image in a JPG file with embed sRGB profile.

5-Send it to client.

OPTION B MAKING TONEMAPPING IN VFB

1- Save the image of VFB in PNG 16bits with tonemapping.

2- Open PNG16 on Photoshop to Matte painting. Assign wideRGB profile but seeing with proofcolors in sRGB. (is corona saving wideRGB when select PNG16?)

3- Convert to sRGB (in perceptual or colorimetric mode, the same choosen at proofcolors)

4- Save it to JPG with embed sRGB profile.

5- Send to client

Thanks!

Hey I can't get the shadow catcher's shadow to be the same color and darkness as the backplate shadow. In this case I have used a 360 image from google maps as hdri, I aded only two containers (all the other thinks are background) and I have added a sun corona to increase the intensity of the sun at which the 360 texture does not reach. Incresing the shadow amount its not enought, at the imatge is at 10. If I increase the intensity of the sun, the shadow is darker but I have to lower the exposure in the tonemapping, and strangely when under the exposure, the shadow becomes lighter instead of going down as well. As you see, the container shadow also has a different bluish color than the shadow of the railing that belongs to the image background. I suspect it is because it mixes with the diffuse of the ground that is more reddish but I cannot apply diffuse to the shadowcacher material. How can I touch the color of the shadow?

Another option is to do it in post-production, but I can't find any pass to extract only the background, which would be very good for situations where the background itself has objects that would be in front of the container partially covering it and would need to mask the container in photoshop and show the background, so using the beauty alpha would not work.

thanks!

Hey,

I’ve seen this CG instructor saying that its better to make a render after another darker render, because the pases compensates the lighting contrast in a better way? Is it true?

What happens if we start absolute black because the automatic VFB clean before every render is activated?

You can see the explanation here

feature=youtu.be

it's possible?

Hey comunity

What is the correct PBR way to introduce 4% of diffuse reflectivity of a real material, with corona color picker?

In lineal space, If I put 4% on Value bar, the Red Green and Blue bars turns to 0,1 beacuse the gamma. So i have to put 4% at RGB bars? Wich of two is the correct?

thanks!
