Hi,

Well.. the title says it all; given the slow (see non-existant) development of the plugin, would anyone else be interested on funding a kickstarter project? could someone from corona team tell us how much time would that represent to get comparable features set to say 1.5 for 3dsMax?

Thanks in advance

Albert

Hi, funding is not the problem. We have more than enough funds to throw at the SketchUp development. We are however currently facing a serious lack of manpower. We've been in the process of trying to hire new people for the past few months, but so far with only marginal success. Right now it seems that we have few promising candidates, so hopefully the SketchUp development will continue full-speed soon.

You guys should post in the developers categories of the SketchUp forums and SketchUcation forums :
http://forums.sketchup.com/c/developers
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=180
There are several talented freelance devs lurking there.

Also, are you guys part of the SketchUp Alpha program? There's a bunch of extensions developers there, and also it would be useful to you in general.
If not, PM or email me.

I'd gladly apply for the job, as I just used Corona for max for a job, and loved it. But Skatter is eating up all my dev time :)

We would be happy for you to take the job since you have done a great job for the Skatter...

Hey Corona Team,

Is the lack of manpower still the main driver for the lack of progress on this front? Just curious to understand, thanks!

yep, we have the lowest unemployment in the history in our country, it is getting ridiculously hard to find programmers

Could you tell me do you mean you have "a few" good candidates (which sounds good), or "few" candidates (which sounds like "not many")?  You end your post on a positive note so I'm thinking it's the first.   Thanks.

Yes, we did have some promising candidates, but that was almost a year ago. We already hired one guy to be a full time SketchUp developer, but unfortunately he quit after releasing one new SketchUp plugin version. As Ondra said, the current situation on the local job market is far from ideal and skilled labour is in extremely short supply. And to be honest, developing a SketchUp plugin is not the most sexy thing you can do as a skilled programmer, so I can image people wouldn't want to quit their current jobs just to do that.

Do you guys need the programmer to work in your office, or can they work remotely?

Corona team:
People LOVE SketchUp.   And it seems to me that in the field in general it is the third most requested job skill, after Autocad and Revit.

People involved in testing (and who fell in love with Corona) kind of hanging on every word here...

I'm usually not connected to the internet, and my Corona program would time out every 5 weeks or so.  I have about 3 weeks left.
