I know this a job post section - but it seemed like an appropriate section to ask this.

I have an employer who is interested in hiring me - either as a 'contractor' or possible 'full-time' - it is currently undecided.

However, I live in Europe and the employer is from the USA.

Can anyone suggest a website or anything similar that helps address on how to arrange this? We have no idea where to start :D

General CG Discussion / Job contract & number of revsions?
« on: 2022-03-06, 10:44:38 »
hello -

i am about to take on work for a former employer - as a contractor. they are notorious for revisions til death.

so - couple of questions.

what is suggested for the number of revisions? i was thinking 1 round for model feedback (built from cad) and then

2 rounds for materials and scene dressing.

charges for number of images?

does anyone have a 'contract' word document that i use and edit to fit my needs - or can suggest a template or elsewhere?

kind regards!

hello -

so i've been rendering this scene (4 cameras) for the last week - at varying times (9 hrs to 12 hrs each)

I've also been reviewing various posts on the corona forum and then attempt various adjustments on each new render - all off which have led to failure. 😒

anyway - I have officially surrendered and now seek the help from my fellow coronans.

the first 3 images are from 2 days ago - fairly clean but some noise and def some fireflies. I've been tooling with GIvsAA, light samples, etc.. none of which have worked for me.

on the following image - I had concluded that maybe it had to do with my window mats - where I decided to make them (thin) no refraction. but now heavy noise... 😢

I have included some snapshots of my render setup. also - at each window location - I am using a backplate (corona rayswitch) as you can see attached. the hdri is peter gutherie's (2003 dusk blue).

i would be more than happy to upload the file for those who would prefer to examine the scene. it's just under 400 megs zipped - fyi.

looking forward to solutions - all the best!

[Max] I need help! / memory upgrade - corona crashing!
« on: 2018-04-11, 18:19:56 »
hi -

so i just recently upgraded my memory - from 16gb to a total of 48gb.

been working on an existing scene - and now max is crashing. i haven't tried other scenes - so i should at least give that a try.

however, my existing scene rendered fine before the upgrade.

below are my memory info:

my existing memory - corsair 16gb ddr4 3000mhz.

my new memory - adata xpg 32gb gammix d10 ddr4 3000mhz

it's interesting - because when the render now starts - it does as it should - renders much quicker than before! so a scene that normally took about 5 hrs - is now estimated at about 2,5 hrs.

however, after about an hour of rendering - max will crash! i even monitored while rendering - nothing out of the ordinary (heat-wise) image attached also.

i am also including a dump file generated from max (not sure how useful that is.)

any ideas? any help is greatly appreciated. it's been 3 crashes in 3 nights - going crazy!

okay -

i've been experiencing some really major issues with my scene. :(

i have several cameras in my scene - rendered my first the other day @ 5000 px wide - @ 6% noise lever - took a few hours and looked great!

moved to camera 2 - first render spent close to 30 hours on initial render pass! :S i canceled... the only thing i can think of that i know changed - was that i imported a building from 3dsky : https://3dsky.org/3dmodels/show/paniel_noie_9_ti_etazhnoie_zhiloie_zdaniie

i didn't like the way it was working with my scene - so i deleted it!  i then save-selected my scene - reimported to a new scene - and tried again. this time (i was out of the office for a couple days) took about 48:36:34 -  on only render pass 2.....! crazy!

so i have no idea what's causing this! especially since the first camera rendered so smoothly!

i am attached several screen shots of my setup in render settings, lightmix, etc..

(i will note that the last render didn't have a noise threshold set - it was a new scene and i forgot to update that. could that be the problem?)

any help and/or ideas is greatly appreciated! i'm losing my hair! :D

[Max] General Discussion / Regarding FairSaaS license usage
« on: 2017-10-25, 17:33:24 »
so i have 3 nodes with this license - when i leave of my office and work from home - do i have to deactivate my license at the office?

i'm under the impression this only applies if you're using more than 1 computer simultaneously.

cheers -

good day all -

i have a design i've been busy with. just finished some interior renders - now starting the exterior.

to begin with - i'm not very experienced in exterior rendering. so it's gong to be an interesting journey! :)

this design - as you can see - has crazy, angular exterior. i am wanting to make the edges 'pop' more with he sun.

i've already moved the sun about - in affecting the edges (though the sun no longer correlates with the hdri background.)

does anyone have a suggestion? is there a trick i can incorporate?

any suggestions is greatly appreciated!!

regards -
