[C4D] Bug Reporting / Odd backside rendering of area light
« on: 2018-01-13, 00:55:17 »
With a high(er) "Directionality" setting, the backside of an area light renders pretty strangely.
It can be remedied easily for a still with the light options, but if you move around the light and want it to be visible in the render, you will be in trouble.

As topic says - Lumen would be welcomed there :)

Out of curiosity, is it just me or does the usage of Corona shaders (Normal, AO ...) generally cause to show this symbol rather than a preview in the Material Editor?

C4D R19, Win 10, Corona Beta 1 RC1.

94
Win 10, R19, Daily Beta from Dec 21.
Load and run the scene (start IPR).
Select "Cube 1" and cycle through the projections (Texture tab, try UV, Spherical, Cubic ...), nothing changes.
Select "Cube 2" and cyvle through the projections, too. Works as expected.
Cube 1 is textured with a Noise in UV(2D) mode.
Cube 2 is textured with a Noise in Texture mode.

95
If you start the IPR and either rotate the sky or change the U/V offsets in the material tag, you have to restart the IPR to get an updated rendering.

Daily Beta from Dec, 21 plus R19 on Win 10.

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / You can't undo a Corona Sky
« on: 2017-12-19, 22:59:51 »
What sounds like a romantic movie title is actually something strange:
Create a Corona Sky from the Corona menu.
Undo it.
You can't.
Right, that's it ;)

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Stacking and noises in non-UV mode
« on: 2017-12-18, 23:19:48 »
Corona Daily from Dec. 14, C4D R19.

If you use a C4D noise in the Opacity Slot of a material used for stacking, it will only work if the noise is in UV(2D)-mode.

With the native C4D renderer(s) it is possible to do the following:
Add a base texture to a model with, say, Color (the C4D way to say: It's a diffuse texture!) and Bump active.
Add another texture tag with just Bump active and activate "Mix Texture".
This way you get another layer of, for example, scratches mixed with the base texture.

Would this be possible with Corona, too?

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Corona Light Material and Opacity
« on: 2017-10-26, 23:46:23 »
This is either a bug or I am completely misunderstanding the opacity option in the light material.
I would expect the opacity to determine which part of the emission texture is visible and illuminating, but obviously it does not work that way.
My original plan was to use a flame texture für lighting a portion of the scene and having an alpha texture cut out the black part.
It works with a standard material and self-illumination, but it is pretty noisy, of course, so I'd prefer the Light material.
Any ideas?

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Projector Shader Crash
« on: 2017-10-01, 21:59:13 »
Beta from September 29, C4D R19, Win 10:

1. Open a new scene
2. Make Corona your renderer
3. Create a new Corona material
4. Add a Projection shader to any texture slot
5. Click OK
6. Swear like a sailor
7. Restart C4D.

Sequence of steps 5 to 7 may alter.

Work in Progress/Tests / Colored pencils

Some simple scene I am working on, on and off.

Just a question that came up somewhere else:
For Max, there is an Alpha that will never expire.
For C4D, the download site reads:
"This is the latest stable version for Cinema 4D. The plugin is still in development and as such is free to use, even for commercial projects. This build supports Cinema 4D R14, R15, R16, R17 or R18 and will expire after the commercial version is released."
So there won't be a "keeper" Alpha or rather a latest beta before release for C4D users or is the website stating something wrong? Just curious.

Work in Progress/Tests / Milkman's morning
« on: 2017-07-05, 07:01:03 »
Just a small interim project, which was fun to do with Corona, as usual :)
Now waiting for cooler weather to render in higher resolution with more passes.

This one is killing me. Had it before in this scene, but now it is back and I am clueless!

Rendering with the novachord object as a child of "stuff", gives me artefacts.
Rendering with the novachord object on top of it, gives me no artefacts.

I am puzzled.

Latest weekly (May 17, little longer than a week ago ;)) plus R18. Win 10.

Would you want the scene and if yes, how?

Currently, there's 1:1, 1:2, 1:4, but I think having a percentage value freely selectable or a "fit to window" like with the picture viewer would be better.
