Gallery / Santacruz Nomad v5 - Full 3D Bike Park
« on: 2023-08-18, 11:08:59 »

This is my third 3D bike project, after the first Gravel Dream Build https://www.behance.net/gallery/109518307/Virtual-Dream-Bike-Build and the MV Agusta e-bikes https://www.behance.net/gallery/125037897/MV-Agusta-E-Mobility-AMO-RC

I'm super fond of these projects because they helped me to switch from my previous arch-viz job to the bike industry.

About two years ago, I ordered at the local bike shop my dream MTB, the Santacruz Nomad V5.

Since there was a long wait before receiving it, I decided to create the 3D version, modelling the bike based on the photos available online.
Once I got the real bike I refined the model and started the virtual photo shoot.
I made two scenarios, a sci-fi setting and this virtual bike park with ramps and wooden structures. This is the ideal habitat for this kind of bike.

To see the entire set of images check my Behance project: https://www.behance.net/gallery/135707941/Santacruz-Nomad-V5-Virtual-Bikepark

Enjoy the ride..

Gallery / Stahl House - Case Study House #22
« on: 2023-06-05, 11:07:23 »

As a huge fan of the Case Study Houses program that took place in America between 1945 and mid '60s, I wanted to digitally recreate one of the most iconic houses: the Stahl House designed by architect Pierre Koenig in 1959, located in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles.

From the same point of view, I tried different light conditions and color grading to see how the shadows generated by the architecture and its surroundings affect the mood of the scene.

I was inspired by the black and white photographs of the master Julius Shulman, but I also added my own touch with the use of colored artificial lights to create an almost sci-fi mood.

Structural detail.

Hopefully the film rolls in the next picture are not burned by the sunlight..

Technical info:

Modeled with 3ds Max, a mix of iToo Forest Pack and Corona Scatter.
Some elements textured with Substance Designer/Painter.
Clouds from the Corona Sky.

The Virtuachrome 100 is a virtual 35mm film, the name of it is an homage to the glorious Kodak Kodachrome 100.

The film material was made with Substance 3D Designer including some of my bike renderings as photos.

The package of the film box and canister take inspiration from 80s Sci-Fi posters. Since this is a virtual 35mm film the graphic include some recognizable elments of the 3D world, such as the grid and the wireframe box.

The Lomo LC-Wide camera is a model I made a few months ago, it is his first appearance into a rendering! I'll share more of it into a new gallery soon.

A video and some behind the scene on my Behance page: https://www.behance.net/gallery/146311023/Virtuachrome-100-Cyberspace-ready-35mm-film

Hi everyone, this is my latest personal project, It's my first approach to 3D footwear visualization.
I  made a full CGI concept of the classic Vans Old Skool shoes with a touch of digital world elements like the led logo on the upper and the wireframe laces.

On my Behance you can also see a short animation (rendered with Unreal Engine 5) and some behind the scenes:

Do you have any suggestions about good websites to buy music to be used in commercial animations?
I know envato elements, but wanted to know if there are better alternatives.
Thanks!

Gallery / Virtual Dream Bike Build
« on: 2020-12-08, 18:46:32 »
Hi guys! I finally finished my “Virtual Dream Bike Build”, well, I’m planning to make even more images, but in the meanwhile I’m posting the first set.

Maybe most of you already followed the work in progress of this project, otherwise you can read it here: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=28568.0

This is a project I really care about, I always wanted to translate my passion for bikes into the 3d world, so I used my free time to model my gravel bike in all its details.
When the model was done, I created different virtual sets, to make a photo shooting of the bike.
The garden set is inspired by my own garden, most of the plants are custom made with GrowFX, using scanned leaves that I collected directly from the outside of my home.
For the ground cover I mixed some megascans leaves with other custom made clovers and small plants.

It was nice to explore new techniques for my workflow, for example the use of Substance Painter to add the decals and the weldings on the frame.

Here you can see two short animations to introduce the project: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPIbwe7UIzH-8avbbpLx2CuzTE9CWeIZ0

Here you can see more images and details: https://gionacg.wordpress.com/

Gallery / Gople Outdoor
« on: 2020-06-26, 13:32:51 »
Hi everyone, these are some of the images I recently made for Artemide.

This is the "Gople Outdoor" product, designed by BIG in collaboration with Artemide.
99% of the vegetation is part of my personal collection of models generated with GrowFX and textured with scans of leaves and grass also made by me.
There is only one model of purple flowers that is part of Megascans.

Hardware / Inaccessible boot device after bios update
« on: 2020-05-01, 17:49:37 »
I updated the bios of my Asus ROG Strix x570-e Gaming to the last available, since Substance Painter was telling me that my old bios was known to create errors with the app.

The procedure was successful, but at the restart of the pc a BSOD appears with this error: inaccessible boot device.

The pc then reboots itself and asks me to do an automatic recovery of windows. After the recovery, the PC manages to enter Windows, everything works, but the Asus Suite 3 app crashes immediately. I am attaching screenshots of the error.

But the real problem is that if I turn off the pc, the next time I switch it on the bsod appears again, I have to restore windows, then it works fine.

Could it be a problem of corrupted system files? Should I format and reinstall windows again?
I never had a problem updating bios on all my computers since 15 years! It's crazy..

I already tried to load the default settings in the bios, nothing change..
Is not possible to go back to my previous BIOS because is too old and on the asus drivers page there is this statement: *You will not be able to downgrade your BIOS after updating to this BIOS version
Of course I tried, but it doesn't work..

Here is my pc config:

Windows 10 Pro 1909

Ryzen 9 3950X
Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming
128GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200Mhz
RTX 2070 Super
System disk: WD 500GB NVMe I think the problem is here..
Crucial 1TB SSD
2 Seagate Barracuda 2TB in Raid 1 for storage and backup
Noctua NH U12A
Coolermaster V850 Platinum

Let me know if you have any suggestions
Thanks

[Max] I need help! / 360° images workflow
« on: 2020-04-17, 13:04:56 »
Hi, I have some questions about the best workflow to render 360° images as cubemaps.
A part from setting the camera and the aspect ratio correctly, is there any other thing to change?

For example:
_is denoise ok to use or it may add artifacts on borders?
_Image filter has to be set to None or it can be left to High quality?

Thanks!

Gallery / Early morning light
« on: 2020-03-20, 18:55:11 »
During these days of quarantine I can spend more time to enjoy my garden, especially in the early morning when the light is still warm and low.
I made this image inspired by the clover and sculptures made by my dad that you can find in my garden.

The clover is custom made using GrowFX and homemade scans.

General CG Discussion / Modeling bike handlebar tape
« on: 2020-03-16, 11:39:27 »
Hi guys, in my freetime I'm modeling my gravel bike and I'd like to know if you have any suggestion on how to model the tape wrapped around the handlebar. See the picture below.
I already modeled the handlebar and some portion of the frame.

Thanks!

Hardware / New mobile workstation
« on: 2020-01-22, 08:36:52 »
Hi everyone,
It's time for me to update my mobile workstation. I know that I could buy a more powerful desktop workstation, but at the moment I'm always on the move.
My actual mobile is a Dell Precision M6800, so I first looked at the new Dell Precision 7740.
Than I discovered an Italian brand that makes high quality custom mobile workstations with desktop cpu.

Here the specs and prices for the two pc:

Dell Precision 7740: 3938.54€+ taxes

CPU: Intel i9-9880H (octa-core, 16MB cache 2.3Ghz - 4.8Ghz)
GPU: Quadro RTX 4000 8GB
RAM: 64GB 2666Mhz, 4x16GB
SSD: 512GB PCIe NVMe M.2 Class 40
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit

Santech G59: 3289€ Taxes included

CPU: Intel i9-9900K (octa-core, 16MB cache 3.6Ghz - 5Ghz)
GPU: GeForce RTX 2070 8GB
RAM: 64GB 2666Mhz, 4x16GB
SSD: 500GB Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 Class 40
HDD: 2 TB Hibrid SSHD Firecuda SATA III
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit

I will use the pc for Arch-viz and product visualizations. I generally work with full 3D environments in 3Ds max, Corona (of course), some photoshop, Substance designer.
Never tried GPU rendering, but I would like to.

I would like to hear your thought.
Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks!

Gallery / Hubnet - Light and Vegetation
« on: 2019-04-16, 08:36:27 »
Hi, this is a new set of images done for Artemide.

This product had to be placed into a private garden, so I made all the vegetation with GrowFX (I love this software) for the first two pictures. Textures are scans from my garden.

Designer: Sonia Calzoni for Artemide

Here you can see a short video of the product made just from one rendering and Lightmix:
