Upon rendering using Hardware OpenGL, C4D crashes. Seems to be if the material's "Viewport preview size" is set to 1024 and above. Settings attached as images. Here is my version info:

Full-speed non-debug version
Build timestamp: Apr 27 2021 01:15:22
Version: 6 hotfix 2
Cinema version: R21.207 Cinema 4D (single-license)
OS: Windows 10

I should also mention that none of the Viewport preview size settings (that don't cause crash) seem to make a difference during render time.
*EDIT: When rendering animation, only the first frame is low-resolution, while remaining frames are fine.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Cinema 4D Stops Responding

Cinema keeps locking up every time I try to render my scene with the picture viewer. It doesn't seem to happen if I use the Corona VFB. I have attached sample videos, a bug report, and my system specs.

Please see the hardware opengl video I have attached. What's weird is that it's sporadic, and sometimes doesn't lock up. But I have a feeling it has something to do with Corona and memory. Also when rendering to the Corona VFB, it doesn't lock up. But sometimes I need Hardware OpenGL animations, but this freezing has been prohibiting at times. If I uninstall Corona, it doesn't lock up anymore. I am trying to prepare a scene file to upload as well.

I’m trying to recreate the car paint materials that Ludvik explains in this tutorial:
with Cinema 4D. However, I am getting hung up on the portion where he creates a falloff node. The falloff node in 3ds max allows for channels to be mapped to its slots. However in Cinema, it is only a gradient ramp.

Also is the cellular node in 3ds max just a cell voronoi noise in Cinema?

One last thing... Can someone explain how he set up the studio in 3ds max? It seems to provide a lot of really nice reflections, so I’m curious how it’s set up.

I only tested this with R21. Please take a look at the scene file. The displacement renders jagged.

If you remove the selection on the texture tag, it works. So guessing it has something to do with that.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Corona Multi-Pass with Take System

Hey guys, when using the Take System and under a Take other than the main Take, the Mask ID box is greyed out and there is no way to override this attribute.

It would be nice to have the "Seen by Transparency" option in the Corona Compositing tag, so that we don't get unwanted geometry when rendering slightly opaque objects. You can see the results in EJ Hassenfratz tutorial here:

Hey guys, I'm trying to do some compositing work and want to export my bloom and glare as a separate file so that I can composite in After Effects. However, I'm wondering why my bloom and glare is exporting color information. Shouldn't it just be black and white, showing where the highlights are? Am I doing something wrong?

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Missing Textures with Take System?

When trying to send Takes to the picture viewer, it's throwing an error saying I have missing textures. The textures it's saying are missing were actually deleted from my project a long time ago and they aren't used anywhere. In my Texture Manager it's showing green checkmarks next to everything, so I know there aren't textures somewhere I'm not using. When I render regularly to the picture viewer, it doesn't show any error.

It won't even let me install RC4 on my mac, as I am getting the attached error. First time this error has ever occurred, as I have installed every other version. I am an admin on my own computer, so no idea why this would be happening.

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Node Editor Panning

Seems to be a weird bug when panning around the node editor in RC4. Will pan quicker than I am moving the mouse. Also for example when clicking and holding the pan button or using the middle mouse, if you continue holding the button, but stop moving the mouse, it will sometimes keep panning.

[C4D] I need help! / Substance Painter to Corona C4D

Hi, I am trying to find the correct workflow going from Substance Painter to Corona. Please see the attached "substance" screenshot of how the material looks inside Substance Painter. Then compare that with the "corona" screenshot. It looks totally different. When I export my textures from Substance, I make sure to select the Corona preset. It creates a Diffuse, Reflection, IOR, Glossiness, and Normal. I plug these in to their appropriate ports as shown in the "nodes" screenshot.

Doing some research, I see that Glossiness, IOR, and Normal need to have their gamma corrected:

I tried creating a C4D Filter shader and adjusted their gamma by 0.455 (to get 1.0). But it's still not looking right. All my worn edges are supposed to appear metallic, but instead are just black.

But it is way over my head and is geared toward a 3ds max workflow.

Can someone explain what else I need to do in order to get my texture to show up properly?

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Node Material Window - Drag Selection

See attached video. On MacOS when dragging to create a selection, the selected area doesn't want to keep up with the cursor. May have something to do with cursor acceleration on Mac? It keeps up when mouse movement is quicker. However, when moving slow, it seems to stop moving.

My multipass images are rendering brighter in the picture viewer than what they're supposed to be as compared to rendering through the VFB. I noticed when switching my renderer from Corona to Standard, that it adds RGBA and Post Effects to the Multi-Pass setting. Is there a way to save animation files through the VFB as opposed to the picture viewer?
