[C4D] General Discussion / realistic sand

Can anyone point me in the direction of a realistic sand shader, or a beach scene for Corona?

[C4D] General Discussion / opacity mask problem
« on: 2021-04-30, 16:10:40 »
I'm rendering a yoghurt pot. I want to create an opacity map so the top of the yoghurt fades away to transparency over a short distance. I have created this as a black and white map in Photoshop, blurred it, and applied it to the opacity channel. I'm getting an ugly darkening at the transparent edge of the mask. This doesn't happen if the map is not blurred.

This pic demonstrates the problem, to exaggerate it I've created a map with castellations.

How can I fix this and have the edge fading to transparency cleanly?

Will there ever be a fix for the zoom buttons and window size using the VFB on a mac?

If I'm rendering a hi-res image, the VFB opens at a huge size, so I can't resize the window, as the corner to drag is off screen. I can zoom in and out using the buttons, but can't zoom out to see the whole image, or scroll left and right using the scroll bar, as the scroll bar is off screen.

[C4D] General Discussion / Displacement Mess

Getting extremely jaggy and distorted displacement. Black and white slightly blurred psd file as displacement. Tried 16 bit file and 8 bit file.

[C4D] General Discussion / displacement in layered material
« on: 2020-09-01, 16:18:52 »
I am doing a packaging render. There is a base colour and a printed foil. I have created a layered material with a base layer and then the foil layer defined with an image mask. Both these materials have a slight bump to give a card texture.

I also want the foil areas to be slightly debossed or indented like a foil stamp. So I've used a version of the foil mask with a tiny amount of blur and piped this into the displacement of the foil material.

I'm not getting the result I want in fact nothing seems to be happening.

What would be the best set-up for what I want to achieve?

I can't quite believe this problem hasn't been sorted yet.

When I set my render size in c4d to lets say A5 at 300ppi, and open the Corona VFB and click interactive rendering, the window expands to be too big for my screen and I can't resize it.

When will this be fixed?

[C4D] General Discussion / Corona RAM consumption
« on: 2020-04-06, 12:03:51 »
Is there a way to limit the amount of RAM and threads Corona uses while using interactive rendering? I find my mac pro gets really sluggish when Corona is calculating passes.

[C4D] General Discussion / HDR light studio and corona sky
« on: 2019-12-05, 16:41:35 »
I want to light an object using HDR Light Studio, but have it on a pure white background. Normally I use Octane and this is easy to set up, but Octane is extremely crash prone on my mac and I'm up against a deadline.

In Octane I set up an Octane environment that's visible to camera only and doesn't contribute to lighting or reflections etc. Then I use HDR Light Studio to do the lighting.

I'm trying a similar approach in Corona but the HDR Light Studio Environment obscures the white environment.

Is this possible?

[C4D] General Discussion / VFB window size

when I open the VFB the window is too big on my 30" cinema display, I can't drag the corner to resize it - how do I fix this?

[C4D] General Discussion / Light Linking
« on: 2019-09-12, 15:05:22 »
Just been doing a proper job for the first time using Corona, a packaging render. Been thinking what a great renderer, but I'm doing lots of little lighting tweaks and it seems there is no light linking or include exclude functionality - is that right? I can't have a light illuminating one object but not others in the scene? Total non-starter for my line of work if that's the case.

[C4D] General Discussion / spot varnish
« on: 2019-09-11, 17:14:00 »
I'm wondering about the best way to create a spot varnish area on a label. The varnish crosses different inks on the label. The label is textured with a layered material with image masks for all the different inks. The 'Flavour Matters' stamp should be a varnish.

I can't seem to get it working, it always looks opaque, it's supposed to look transparent and glossy with a slight bump.

Anyone done this successfully?

[C4D] General Discussion / No Previews
« on: 2019-09-11, 15:42:02 »
I just signed up to Corona for a month as both Redshift and Octane were struggling on a complex label render I'm creating.

I'm doing fine creating materials etc, but can't see them previewed in the c4d windows - is this not possible? do you have to use the VFB? If so I would call that a major flaw!

[C4D] General Discussion / Condensation Technique
« on: 2019-06-24, 19:27:42 »
I'm doing a job with condensation on lager cans. I've tried the Greyscale Gorilla droplet Cloner technique, but also want to try using materials. I've got some droplet image maps, for displacement, normal and a mask for opacity, but I can't get things working in Corona. I'm trying to stack materials but the drops are doing weird things. I've also tried a layered material but can't get that to work. What's the best technique?

[C4D] I need help! / Condensation Set Up
« on: 2019-06-24, 12:35:37 »
I'm trying to create condensation on a can and running into problems. I can get it working using the mograph cloned droplets technique, but I want to try using displacement and or normal maps. I have tried stacking two materials, and also creating a layered material, but the droplets never look like liquid and distort the underlying texture on the can.

I found this thread which has the same question, and the poster never gets the correct answer. https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=21556.0

What is the correct set-up material wise to get droplets on a surface using normal or displacement maps? Can it be done in Corona?
