Title: Corona Light Soft Shadows
Post by: arjunkumar1108 on 2021-05-07, 16:10:00
Hi,

I am desperately trying to create a scene where a light source creates the shadow of an object in front of it on a plane ahead. Please see the attached screenshot. Here I used native Cinema4d light to create soft shadows of the plants on a plane.

However, when I render this scene in Corona the shadows disappear. I have tried to use Corona light to create these shadows but have been completely unsuccessful!!! I can't figure out how to create these soft shadows. I have also attached the .c4d file. I would really appreciate it if someone can solve this for me, give me hints or even better show it on the cinema4d file and share it back!!

I have been stuck on this for quite some time.

Thanks,
Arjun

Corona doesn't use "shadow maps" of any form. Soft shadows are determined the same way as in the real world - by the size of the light source (larger is softer shadows), the distance between the light source and the shadow casting object (farther is softer shadows), and the distance between the shadow casting object and the shadow receiving object (farther is softer shadows).

Based on my colleague's suggestions, soft shadows can be reached. ;)
